Mike,

Those Whiskey Short Wings are perhaps my favoite in your collection. Alden cordovan balmorals are a rare thing, which is quite sad because they do them so well.smile.gif

Wear in good health my friend!

Black Captoe (Alden NYC)
Cigar Indy (Leffot)

"Four cordovan casual laceups"
Cigar LWB (Alden NYC)
990 (eBay)
Color 8 / Alpine Grain Saddle (Leffot)

"Four cordovan work laceups"
Black punch cordovan Captoe Balmoral (Alden NYC)
Color 8 full strap (Alden NYC)

"Eight Seasonal Shoes"
Tan suede LWB (Leffot)
Snuff Suede SWB (J Gilbert)
Choco Tanker (Leather Soul)
LS Ultimate Indy (Leather Soul)
CXL LHS (Leather Soul)
Snuff Chukka (Alden NYC)

That's 14 I believe (I may be forgetting one or two), so I reached my goal (my RL Marlows should really be included in this, which gets me to 15). Of the shoes I now own, the best pure specimen is the Cigar LWB (purchased in this year's Alden NYC run). The most worn shoe is the color 8 full strap (worn at least one a week). Aside from work shoes, the most worn is a tie between the Color 8 Wingtip Boots (worn weekly from fall to spring), the CXL LHS (worn weekly from Spring to fall on weekends) and the Tan Suede Wingtip (worn weekly from Spring to Fall on weekends). The most complimented shoes are the color 8 wingtip boots, cigar longwings, the black captoe boots, tan LHS and the 990.

I could see myself selling one or two more (Snuff Chukka and maybe the Leffot Saddle). I would like to add bluchers in black and color 8 (one each). I am on a waitlist for black cordovan SWB at LS, but who knows if and when those will be made. I could buy LWB, NST, captoe, etc. That would get me up to 16. Or maybe I will get a cordovan LHS instead...

This is excellent progress, and God knows, not easy to do. I made some good progress earlier this year selling a bunch of ravello and cigar shell shoes that I didn't wear much, and replacing them with calf and suede boots (blasphemy!). I just LOVE that trubalance comfort. Problem is I think I ended up back at the same number where I was at the beginning of the year. shog[1].gif

Trying to pare down again by shedding some #8: plaza captoe boots and Leffot 975 with antique edge. I'm overweight on Indys (5 : 2 suede, 2 calf, 1 shell) and Oak St Trench Boots (3) but I love them too much to give them up.

Yes, and size to size, modified is wider in D width (most are TTS in 379x but can go down .5 in Modified).

The 379x is Alden's approximation of the munson last, iirc.

The ravello NST shoe felt pretty great today.

Crazy versitle, I wear them with jeans most of the time... and I don't miss speed hooks ripping up my pants..lol

Agreed. I have a Bureau Belfast Indy, AF43 and the J.Crew Tabacco boots, and all are amazing in fit. I actually think I like them better than even my modified last boots.

Natty CXL chukkas have been ordered. Ideally I would want a more versatile sole on them but I figure I'll wear them out and then have BNelson put Dainite soles on there.

This is a really interesting topic.

Gents, just can't get enough of LS Choco Tankers. I've handled many shell makeups in last few years but let me tell you. I really think this model is best of all. Sleek enough since its suede and so freaking comfortable there is no tomorrow.

I really like wearing it with denim

@rydenfan No denim jokes lol

Come on...so not fair

I completely agree with you. In general Alden suede models are hugely underrated. Lots of great snuff boots as well and the suede PTB in every color is a home run and supremely comfortable

Would love a pair of Choco tankers. Was eyeing the green ones posted earlier, but I think Choco is more versatile.

Totally in love with tankers and Indys. It's become a problem...

Read somewhere that Alden uses one of the best suede supplier.

Suede is underrated. For example I've owned tan suede unlined PTB and owned the tan LWB. I wore both many many more times than any whiskey shoes I owned.
