As my fellow Canadian TTG pointed out, exchange rates from US to CAN add another $100 for us.

I got lucky and didn't get charged additional 13% HST on top of that lol.

Jeez.... 13%.

Never did understand customs and duties. I recently had a bottle of whiskey shipped into the US, cost me 40 dollars in customs. Sounds petty but for an 80 dollar bottle its 1/3 the price.

Yeah the exchange rate, local taxes on the purchase amount, custom & duty along with ridiculous UPS brokerage fees meant I paid about $900 CAD for my whiskey PTB. I thankfully have a local store I got my Indys at for $475 CAD and they also carry the 990 and the 975 for I think $750 and $775. Really makes me consider just buying those classics instead of the Leffot Dover or the antique edge LWB.

Edit: Just checked and it was $910 CAD from Alden DC plus almost another $100 upon delivery, oh my

There is no such thing as too late when complimenting a pair of Aldies.

I thought I was done with boots for a while but those Leffot tobacco chamois boots seem to be calling me...hope folks buy my size out while I procrastinate.

Fit question. I'm a 9.5D in the 975 and the Jcrew PCT boot. The boot fits quite a bit smaller than the 975. My TTS is 10C. Would the barrie WT boot work in that size? Does that model too fit snugger?

Shell boots are snugger that shoes in general. The jcrew PCTs are particularly snug. I am not sure if the 270 welt has anything to do with it, but despite being Barrie, it sure is snug. Try out something in E width for boots and that's probably the best way to go about it.

The J Crew Perf CT Boots are more snug than other Barrie lasted boots.  I have the PCT boots and wingtip boots (color 8 and ravello), all on the barrie last, and the wingtip boots fit pretty close to my 975, 9751, etc...  I think the J Crew PCT boots are more snug than the others.  I do not think you have to go with an E width.  Of course, trying them on in person can provide definitive answers.

They have been my grails since they first came out. I'm fairly young(22), so acquiring them took a couple years of disciplined saving.

I was always tempted to splurge for something easier or cheaper, but I resisted temptation and I couldn't be happier. Well worth the wait.
