During the week, when I want to wear a shoe during wet weather I typically wear a 990, my RL Marlows or my 9016 (none of which have waterlock soles).

When it comes to single leather soles, I actually prefer the feel of the traditional single leather sole over the "flex" waterlock sole as it is more substantial in wet weather (for example, the 9016 is a better wet weather shoe, IMO, than the black unlined PTB i previously owned).

Thanks. As a follow up to my first question. Would you say that your double leather sole's generally wear down faster in wet weather than the double waterlock? It is my understanding that the double waterlock soles are treated and I thought the purpose of that treatment was to prolong the life of the sole in wet conditions.

I already have.

Contact TheShoeMart and see if any spots are available. It won't hurt to ask. I believe they are in production already.

, I also think you should be fine.  I have a pair of 379X suede boots and I sized them like Barrie/TB and they fit perfectly.  I still think the pics shown look more like the Trubalance than my 379X lasted boots.  The toe has the slight bump that the TB toe has and the 379X has a narrower waist.  But then, it's hard to tell from the pics.  But it looks like you got a great deal for a nice pair of boots.

I think so too. The pictures I'm seeing online of the 379X last appear to have a more bulbous toe than in the pictures shown by Brooks Brothers.

I guess I won't know for sure until they show up.

Spoke with the Alden factory and they confirmed that the Brooks Brothers suede boot is made on the trubalance smile.gif

Awesome, thanks! I was thinking about sending them an email to ask the same thing so you saved me the trouble.
