I think the double waterlock soles have a better grip, even after the double leather has been scuffed up.  They may also feel a little lighter than the standard leather, maybe but not certain.

What vendor is this? Boone?

I cannot see how crepe can have good traction on snow/ice. There aren't any ridges or tread to give you traction.

I use Cigar captoe boots on Commando sole most often. On casual days I use my CXL LWB which are also on commando sole. IMO nothing beats the comfort and convenience of commando sole up here in New England. Haven't tried anything crepe sole.

Really want to take the Ravello ones out as well but saving it for now.

When it drops to single digits I use these Lowa Tibet GTX from Amazon. Use some Darn Tough socks and your feet will thank you.

It never hurts to ask. Call Ed at TheShoeMart and get yourself on the list.

You are totally right. I know. I have said it before, too.

I've been quite involved in the EG game and it may just stick this time. We'll see.

The double waterlock sole feels lighter and "sounds" quieter when walking, but I have not noticed any difference in grip. My plain old Alden 990s are among my best performing Alden shoes in wet weather with the traditional double leather sole.

This is very interesting. You don't find a commando soled shoe/boot to perform any better?

You are right-it doesn't have many ridges or tread on the crepe sole but mine have very tiny ridges or ripples to them which seem to grip better than a leather sole in snow/ice. I'm sure that the commando sole is probably one of the best-grip wise.

Yes! At least then I'll have proof that you don't have doubles of every shoe/boot and you don't just show a worn shoe and your new shoe in your before and afters...LMAO.
