Does anyone know what model the 44732 is? I have an Alden box for that but I don't know what shoe it goes to...

Need 2 pairs of boots for WIsconsin winter. Casual boots that can take a beating. 404 Kudus on order. You guys think these #8 crepe soles would hold up well?

I would like to relegate this response to a snow expert. I would not have a clue! What is the preferred snow sole? Creep?

I actually live around the Rockford/Beloit area and have gotten good service out of 2 Alden Cordovan boots.

1.  #8 WT boot on commando

2.  #8 PCT boot with Topy's on sole and heel

Shell is actually an amazing winter leather.  And for this area as well.

I have never owned crepe but I would not see why it would not work well for what you need it to.

Thanks!

^^^I would go #8 on commando if you can....that is what I have experience with and know it works!

Crepe can be slippery in wet and/or snow. Beware.

All it ever does is snow in Buffalo.
I would stay away from crepe. It's slick when wet.
The 404's will do great. Chamois is what I would recommend as a first choice.
If you want the second pair to be shell go with something darker. Color 8 or black on commando. If commando is not preferable I've seen some people put on toppys and have them turn out very nice.

Quick question: How does the double waterlock sole feel compared to the double leather? Is there a noticeable difference?

I'm in Wisconsin too. I would recommend the crepe soles. I have worn them a bit in the snow/ice and they offer a good grip. They are good for going from the car to work but I wouldn't wear them to shovel snow etc. The uppers on my crepe boots are Horween Chromexcel and they seem be holding up great against the snow and winter. Let me know if you have any questions.
