Not sure why I'm asking this here since the answer will almost always be shell, but here goes . . .

I'm trying to decide between Cigar PTB's with antique trim on the Barrie last like the one pictured below or the tobacco chamois CapToes on the Plaza last that were pictured here yesterday. I've never been a big fan of the PTB since it seems a bit chunky to me. The Captoe Plaza shoe should be a bit sleeker and I like the fact that it comes with a commando sole so I could wear it in rain or if there's ice on the ground (we don't get snow in Texas). But then the other shoes are cigar shell . . . hence my dilemma.

If you're not a big fan of Barrie PTBS, consider the Plaza PTB from Harrisons.

It's very similar, but just constructed on the Plaza last/single waterlock sole, I believe.

Look for Mdubs pictures; he has a pair.

In all actuality, it is likely the exact same leather with a different finish on it.

I for one love the ruby color, and would find myself wearing the Color 2 if I had it.

If I were building that LWB, I would have finished it and applied an antique edge to make it more wearable, but ... I would still get wear out of the AoC design.

+1, I'm not a huge fan of the natural welt.

Thanks for the replies. It's tough to resist Cigar but that's what I must do.

That's what I figured. I don't go in to an office often enough to dress up too much. I think I'd get more use out of the chamois on the commando sole.

Not sure why you're asking this question either.  I think you had it right yesterday with the TSM chromexcel shortwing blucher on commando.  Gotta prioritize.  Do you want a shell PTB or an all-around weather beater.  If the answer is shell, are either of the cigar PTBs (Barrie or plaza) available?  I'm almost certain Harrison's was sold-out a while ago, at least in my size.

I'd go with the practical shoe since that is what you seem to be needing based on what you've written the last couple of days.

Go with the Leffot captoe, I think that make up is awesome. I also am in a similar debate and I think it could be a bit of a wait on a list for a cigar PTB, plus you can get them from various places. Seems this Leffot offering is quite unique and may be a while before we see some thing similar on Plaza. If my size is still around I hope to get a pair after the holidays.

So that being said, if you are an 8D, do not buy them haha

Guys I have accepted that I have been a little unreasonable in the past. I was just a little disappointed

Is this a keeper or a return? This is a slightly better picture. Captoe boots are my fav, and ravello is my fav shell color.

Keeper. But only you can answer how much it does or does not bother you

I would keep them, but as Ryden said, its a personal choice. If they bug you now they may always bug you. I say wear them for a few weeks and if you really can't live with it after the initial disappointment wears off you could still re-sell them at cost.

I would keep those.  It isn't that bad.  As others have mentioned, keep in mind that many pairs of ravello have some lack of uniformity in color - which is natural.  What you are showing us really doesn't seem very noticeable and, as the boots age, this will be even less noticeable (if at all).
