With the cordovan shortage we decided to try out some tankers in suede and calf.  Also, a chukka on crepe for winter.  The green are my favorites but I would like to hear any feedback you gentlemen have.

Outstanding tankers, I especially love the Loden green.

I came up with nothing on search, does anyone have a direct comparison of Loden green vs. chocolate suede?

I anticipate the usual answer of "just buy it", but what do you all think of the green vs. chocolate suede in a tanker? Redundant? What about snuff and chocolate?

Thanks,

-D

Chup socks are highly recommended!

I do nothing with mine, except brush the mud off from time to time.

They stay well oiled from the copious amounts of oil in the leather.

I did ask Alden and they suggested Neatsfoot oil if they dried out.

I for one couldn't imagine it.

I am into my second winter with mine, and they are kicking a** and taking names.

Are you guys referring chamois or reverse chamois? Is the caring process of chamois and reverse chamois the same? Thanks gents!

I'd say the green or the choco. Both are dark earth tones that are a nice contrast next to snuff. I can't see owning both but then again I don't collect every shade of brown like some on here smile.gif

I'm about to pull the trigger on choco as LS has my size.

I have a pair of Indy Snuff Suede boots, which go great with my dress attire...khakis and chinos in a business casual environment and also jeans of different washes (light and dark). I am on a suede kick and I guess a man cannot have enough pairs of suede boots. What kind of attire can be worn with the LS choco suede tanker boots?

Here is a side by side photo of my choco tanker(1 year) and snuff v-tip(1.5 year). I also have a green suede LWB coming in these coming days. Will post a photo of 3 of them side by side when it arrives. Hope it helps.

Those are fantastic. I can only hope mine look the same one day. Also, when did Alden stop hand stitching the moc toe on the Natural CXL Indy? The stitching on mine is the same as on the 403 / 405 (and not as good looking as the above, in my opinion).

Outstanding suede, Steve! The snuff and chocolate are different enough to probably justify both in the same style boot, would love to see the green and chocolate next to each other when it comes in.

I should have the chocolate tanker tomorrow lifeinabox, been drooling over them for a while now, so definitely kop them if you are thinking about it. It does seem excessive to have both the green and chocolate, as you said biggrin.gif.

I believe everybody was referring to chamois rather than reverse chamois.  I know I was.  The care process, from my understanding, is very similar.  Reverse chamois could benefit from occasional (like very very occasional) brushing with a stiff bristled suede brush.  Not called for with smooth chamois.  Both smooth and reverse can be oiled if the situation calls for it, but, again, this is really only necessary once in a blue moon, if at all.

All of this is good to know. Now all I need is my reverse chamois wingtip boot from Leffot!!

While I like the green, I would go with snuff and chocolate if I were to get two.  If I could only have one, I'd snag the snuff... it's too great a casual color and material especially in suede for a boot.

Just MHO though...

Pouring here in California today so I've got my Kudu Indys on at the office:

I've said it before but, very underrated boot. Virtually indusctrucible, super comfortable.

Decided to bring my Ravello PT boots for their maiden office voyage.

I'm very impressed with Modified last and unlined shell. Feels incredible to wear these beauties.

That is some intense carpet. The separation down the middle is pretty wicked. Nice Indys as well, they have a nice Patina for sure.
