After years of conditioning, I fear uncle Mac is floating upside down today.

Even more outstanding!  When cigar and color 8 mellow they tend to look somewhat similar (to my inexperienced eye).  Either way, those are some great boots.  I hope my cigar boots look like that one day.

Why? It develops a lovely patina with age, the color is much richer in real life than in stock photos, and it doesn't crease like CXL. My pair of 405s is now pushing 10 years old and still going strong. I would buy the same model again in a heartbeat. And this is coming from a guy who owns and loves my two pair of CXL Aldens (ptb, Brixton boot).

I like the Natural CXL version.

On the indy boots, do most peoples Big Toe go past the MOC Stitching ?

I'm comparing two pair of chromexcel 403s and notice one is a bit lighter than the other. Any explanations on it? They've both never been worn, so I don't think that's a factor.

Shoes could be different age, natural variation of hides used, etc. Alden shoes and boots can vary in color significantly from batch to batch.

Toe stitching looks like a slightly different shape too along with the welt stitching being very close to the edge around the right toe area. I would personally return them, it's too easy to come across another 403

My impression was that he was comparing different pairs of shoes, not shoes within the same pair (I could be wrong though)
