Alden Color 8 Tassel.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

These are my original Aldens and are starting to form a nice patina if you were to ask me. Look pretty clean still. :-)

Man I would love to see those. But these Cigar NST chukkas are my new grail.

I purchased a pair in 11.5D to try and account for the tightness but they're massive.

Wondering if it's even worth trying 11E since the heels fit fine in 11D.

Anyways just wanted to update since it generated some discussion.

Back in Sept I went to NYC for my honeymoon. While there I tried on the same boots at the Madison store. Size 11D was too tight, went to an 11E and too wide, then tried an 11.5D. Better in width but too long and sloppy in the heel.
Headed over to JCrew Liquor store and picked up these https://www.jcrew.com/mens_category/shoes/boots/PRDOVR~20853/20853.jsp in 10.5D, couldn't be happier.

Good luck finding your size.

Thanks! It may be the Grant last doesn't work for me. I have a pair in Aberdeen that fit great as well as an Epaulet-Alden pair en route in Barrie last that I suspect will work out.

In town visiting the Big Apple.  With 60-70' weather today and tomorrow, and an impending polar vortex approaching the remainder of the week, my Alden line-up for this week includes my original beater LWB and the traditional 403.

Already visited Alden on Madison today.  Not much shell in stock in my size.  Was hoping to take home a wingtip boot in color 8 and commando, but no luck.  Same result with BB next door.

I did see a 403 on commando; would much prefer that to the standard soles.

I can't argue if you're satisfied, but I thought the point was that you (understandably, IMO) wanted the credit applied to the shoes you bought recently. Otherwise, they just let you use the credit for another pair of shoes.

Pay a visit to Voltaire at Citishoes. He usually has some decent stuff kicking around!

thanks uncle mac.

Was the arch st last at some point renamed to the tremont last?

I'm convinced these are extremely old and just sat in someone's closet for a few decades.

I can't wait to see the patina on them hidden under the bloom.

Thanks Moosic and circles.  Out of all my color 8 this pair is easily the nicest, clearest, best example I have.  Excellent photos moosic, definitely do the shoes justice.

My city (stl) is burning today. Hope to avoid the looters and bullets in these cigar indys. Thanks to a great fellow sf member for helping me get my first pair of rare shell. smile.gif

I'm sending in my 975s today to Alden Restoration. Hopefully I'll have them back before the begining of 2015. I'll post the after photos when I get them. I'll miss these babies, but I'll get to wear my 990s and 986s that I've been too much of a wuss to wear. I know, I know, we buy these to wear them :-)

They have upped the price to $169. I really wish they would charge $150 and not throw in a pair of shoe trees.
