No way to keep both?

Ive been dealing with Will lately and he has been great. I had some negative first impressions about a year ago. I recently just gave them a second shot and was pleased.

Just curious, but how is that disappointing and misleading?

Alden of Carmel used to be located in Carmel, but moved in the 2003 timeframe. I assume Adam kept the name for brand identity. I could see that it might be disappointing if you were planning on visiting Carmel, but otherwise?

Misleading? He still sells grade A Aldens of all variety.

I thing Nike is misleading. They don't sell winged Mythological goddesses...

I would choose the cigar shell myself, but the ravello shell is also nice. Depends on you're preference, I like the darker look of the cigar.

For some reason, Alden only does single on the modified. They do the neo-cork as well. I have not seen a reverse or storm welt on anything other than the Indy Boot, either.

Stevent,
Do the cigar shells match? The right shoe seems to be darker than the left one.
If the cigars shells match keep those cigars. Alden is still making decent ravello, but they haven't produced that olive cigar since 2012.

+1. Cigar all the way Steven if you can't keep both.

Good luck man.

From Moulded Shoe:

LEAD Technologies Inc. V1.01

I was told by Rafael at Moulded that the machines can't handle a double leather sole on the Modified last (for some reason).  That's weird because I have a Modified last Nat CXL PT boot from TSM that does actually have a double leather sole.  So not sure what the story is.

LoL. I was up in San Fran about 2 years ago and was getting ready to drive down to Carmel to visit Adam when I couldn't find it on Google Maps. It really frustrated me. But then I figured out his new business model and didn't make the trek down there. However, if you are going to make a pointless trek, going to Carmel is not a bad one to do!

I am with the majority here and would vote for the Cigar. As the DV points out, that shade of Cigar is long gone (well for now it is) and nice Ravello can be readily had. Both are fantastic shoes and I think you should be happy either way.

I agree, ravello sw boots are pretty difficult to beat. Yours are so nice.
The whiskey short wings and pt boots are pretty awesome as well.

The modified last boot is a great shade but I don't know if I could used to that shape...

I was very glad to see how many of you here managed to get a pair from that run and I am excited for those of you who are on the Alden Madison run that should be getting theirs soon! Have a great Sunday, week, and for those in the US, Thanksgiving!
