Read the post. Poster said 11d - the only shoe he has actually tried on - was too tight. He ordered 11e, obviously thinking if d width is too tight, he needed same size in e width. He then asked if 11.5 d would work. In other words, poster is saying if his best size is 11e, would 11.5d in grant last would work. My experience is plainly, clearly no.

I ended up ordering the 11.5D vs 11E as I read the heel is wider in the E and the boot fit fine there. Frans suggested going up .5 but I'll update my experience when I receive them. I appreciate the comments.

I don't deny 11e would be his best size. But IMO going up 11.5d should work too. I wouldnt suggest him to take 11.5d if he was buying a blucher. But when it comes to boot, where heel slippage wont be a sigificant problem, I think it will work based on my experience.

Mr K,
I would check on etsy. I've seen a few individuals on there who do custom work with shell. The prices seem reasonable also.

I thought some members here might be interested in seeing the difference between the recent Whiskey LWB from Alden SF and the new Ravello WT boot from TSM. I was very nervous that they would be identical.

Here's some indoor lit shots this evening:

I'd check Mitchell Leather out of Milwaukee and also Ashland Leather.

Both of these are open to custom work.

I think the Ashland folks work at Horween for their "day job" so they can get the shell right from the horses mouth 😄

I'm not normally a fan of black boots, but those are sweet.

The shoe trees always make TSA go wild when they're in shoes in my bag. I wear the PTBs and carry on the 986.

That's my one frustration with Aldens.  They ruin the pre-check experience for me or I have to wear a different shoe just to avoid taking them off.

I always get told I am an idiot for taking my loafers off (I usually wear my 986's when traveling). I am used to it now and just smile...
