Alden Indy Snuff Suede second thoughts?

I received a pair of these in 8.5D from Alden San Fran. I thought about the original brown or dark brown chromexcel, but I already have a pair of dark brown leather boots...the Wolverine Courtland 1000 Mile boots. I tend to go for browns in shoes/boots, so black is out of the question. That's why I went with suede snuff. They are great looking boots! I haven't worn them out of the house yet. I am uncertain about the soles. The sole is a double waterlock leather sole. From what I understand, it's more durable and waterproof compared to a typical leather sole. This appears to dress up and down very well. I am not sure about traction, slickness and the like. Are the neo-cork soles more durable than the double waterlock leather soles? Which one offers better traction in wet conditions? The dark brown kudu boot would solve all of this in regards to a more all-purpose boot, but I am not crazy about the look of the boot.

I also want to double check my size. I measure about 9.5 (left foot closer to C and right foot borderline C/D). I have a pair of Wolverine Courtland 1000 Mile boots in size 8.5D. That's what the guy at the shoe store recommended and they fit great. The Alden Indy in 8.D fits me nice, just thinking a narrower width might work better, but they don't make anything narrower than a D in these special run boots. Any suggestions?

Black Naval boots arrived yesterday. Slight signs of try-on and creasing but I can live with that. Looking forward to adding these into the rotation.

Oddly, the boots arrived very dull and it took me some work to get them glowing.

Awesome, congrats. The pictures look like they show an ever so slight crease on the right boot, but its tough to see.

Thank you.

Yes, you're seeing right. From my try-on, I think I'll crease them in the same spot, so shouldn't be any issues with that.

Compares to Ravello Chukka and Whiskey PTB, this new Whiskey's shade is in between both.

Amazing array of shoes, gents!

I have pictures of a different nature: Do you think these are OK for first quality? I am generally not finicky about condition for shoes bought online, but I'm having doubts about these (bought not from the 'bay, but an alden stockist)
