Right foot stitching is about half inch off. Anyway, second pair is on oder with fingers crossed. Not a good start toward my first Alden.

Wow, that's the worst I've ever seen. Incredible it got past what is supposed to be QC. Sorry you had to experience that on your first.

Is there any way to order some custom Aldens in EE?

Any model, can be made in any width, so long as they have the last. They tend to have more wider, than narrower lasts. Any stock shoe, available on the Alden factory page (aldenshoe.com) can be added to production any time as just an add on. For store specific special models, you need to contact the store and ask if they will make your size the next time they do a run. I have not had a store say no to me on doing my narrow width yet. However note that Alden will only take three widths per run of special orders.

Is there a particular design that you are targeting?

Mac, as always these are amazing. I agree with the comments that Black is very under appreciated due to its availability. However Yenni at JGilbert may argue about its availability. Anywho, looks great and have a great night!

Hank, sorry about your experience with these boots. Those are definitely a bad is match. The pair on the right almost looks like it was made on the Van last and was targeting the LHS styling. Either way, I hope that your second pair is of better quality. Glad that error was on a pair that was readily replaced. If you stick with Aldens, you will have a great closet, but may have a few curveballs that you will have to bypass now and then.

Distorbant,

For a complete list you may want to visit Aldens site. That said the FAQ is a little easier to navigate due to being a flat list.

Direct to store list:

Thanks for the reply Mike.

Right now I'm looking for a black shell boot on the Trubalance or Barrie last with a commando sole. I'd also go for black calfskin as well

I'm having an extremely difficult time finding places to buy what I want. It's very difficult to buy Aldens online for me.

I need something in 12EE, possibly 3E. I've tried Jcrew for Alden boots in 12E before and the instep was painfully tight so I'm hoping 12EE would remedy that. Or perhaps the Barrie last has a higher instep, I'm not sure. Maybe 12.5 wide would work too.

Here are some boot ideas, depending upon what you are looking for. All are black shell.

NST - Barrie

Plain Toe - TB

Wingtip - Barrie

Indy - TB

That should bust any bank. Just call SF and NY. You never know. They may have your size. And Email Adam at Carmel. NY has limited hours on Sunday and Adam will typically respond on Sundays. For SF wait till Monday.

I don't want to take my Alden shells to just anyone...but I also dont want to pay $50 per pair by sending them to B.nelson (maybe for my resoles though).

B. Nelson may have to be the answer.

Guys, I am located in Blue Bell.

How about the Towne Cobbler Shoe Repair Service? They are located at the Sherman Brothers store in Montgomeryville. Sherman Brothers is an official Alden dealer. I had a pair of Bostonians refurbished and resoled there way back. They did a great job. I have no experience with them with Alden refurb.

The Towne Cobbler specializes in refurbishing and resoling Alden, Allen Edmonds, Johnston & Murphy, Santoni and other high end shoes...

You could also try Alden directly. I am sure this is one of the pricier options out there.
