Tricky,

Also try Alden NYC. They get a decent stock of 4060 (color 8 Captoe boots on the grant last with leather soles) throughout the year. That store will all occasionally have wingtip boots on the Barrie last. They may not have your size in stock but this type of boot should be achievabke within a year. Alden of Carnel also has a number of color 8 boots on commando soles.

Size 8 felt more comfortable but I'm wondering if I'm supposed to take the discomfort for a few weeks to stretch and break in the boots until they feel like they're molded to my feet. Opinions? I really want a molded "felt like they were made for my feet" feel.

I would go for the 7.5, in that the CXL Indys tend to stretch a lot, at least mine did.

Our friends at Leather Soul......even if they apparently aren't getting much shell these days, they do have some nice CXL and suede make ups IMO.

Alden's CXL stretches easily - I think the issue is that you don't want it to stretch as it can create "toe bulge." In addition to looking at an 8, I would also investigate a 7.5E.

Just got these Indys, thanks @cincikid! Listed as navy they really are almost a loden color in daylight which is something I didn't have.

I'm in agreement with your original post in selling to SF members, but maybe not with the same level of aggression.  There really are people on this forum who have good intentions (I feel like I'm one of them) in selling rare shell to members that are not only solid contributors that will truly enjoy the shoes.

I've sold a few shoes on this forum above, at, and significantly below what I paid.  I just sold a pair of ravello that likely could have fetched way above my SF asking price on eBay.  However, I ended up selling them to someone who was extremely cordial, timely in responding to my PMs, and most importantly mentioned they were his grail/unicorn.  They were also sold below my original SF asking price.  I can only hope that the members that have purchased my shoes have had a positive experience.

Got my first pair of shell from longhorn. A gentleman and a scholar.

Anyone think this is an issue with my Indy boots? J. Crew is willing to accept a return on them if I'm not happy and/or an exchange. However, I like the worn in look so long it's not a defect/structural issue that'll affect the longevity of the booth. Thanks in advance for any feedback. Darn QC and improper clicking!
