This is the first time an Alden LWB has ever looked somewhat appealing to me. Nice photos and pickup lemmy. That is a good Ravello shade. Well done.

Black shell with natural outsole would be my dream. I think I saw it on Leathsoul's blog.

No offense to you my friend, but I MUCH prefer not to have the natural welt on any of my shell shoes or boots (makes them much too casual for my liking).  I do have the 403 (Indy) but after a bunch of wear the natural welt turns darker with some contact with dirt.

I almost pulled the trigger on the Natty chrmxl LWB with natural welt before I found it with the mid-tan antique welt and edge.  Very happy I waited!

But, to each his own...

+1

Black with natural welt has always been a head scratcher to me. There are certain combinations of leather color and welt that I don't care for (but that I still understand); however, the black/natural welt combo is one I simply do not understand. It seems confused. confused.gif But obviously others see it differently ....

SFTG, I can see why black with a natural welt or antique/light welt might be a head-scratcher to many.  But I have to make my case, and I think your point holds very true for dressier and more formal shoes/boots.  I lean towards the casual side so an all black boot (black welt/edging) is appealing to me (kind of from a baller-look standpoint) but a very casual black boot (matte black in this case) with a natural welt/edging also works for me.

But to each his own, as always.  And sorry, these aren't Aldens...

On that note, based on experiences and not based on the alden last chart, which last ( Plaza vs Hampton) runs larger?

Which size (shell only) do you take on each last?
