For instance is

8.5D Marlow = 8.5 Barie

and

8.5D Marlow = 9D Hampton

I have 8.5D Marlow, and I would say it is close to the Barrie size, with a slightly higher instep.

It feels a lot like the Tremont last, to be honest. (for me)

How do you guys feel about comfort level of each sole?

Commando is very comfy to me. But how would you order crepe, double/single leather, etc.?

For comfort, crepe is king.

@bobbo316 - yes, these are from J. Crew. If these were snuff suede they'd be a 10 in my book. Still, the brass eyelets, neo-cork sole, TB last and footbalance heel make these a solid 9.314 for me.
Saz, Im a little late to the party, but dark laces for me.

Yes, I am pretty sure these are TB by the look of the bottom of the sole and the fit.

I may be an exception, but I am more comfortable in double leather vs crepe. I own the exact same shoe in both and I always choose the double leather version.

Anyone else speak to TSM or Alden DC about their upcoming cigar shell boots? (I'm pretty sure this isn't a secret since DC is expecting them next month). I'm number two in line for my size in the cigar! Wish I knew who fucker #1 was...These are cap toe boots with commando soles (a bummer if you ask me as I hate Alden's commando, wish they had dainite). Apparently they also have a ravello coming early 2015, and I got on the list for that as well though I'm 5 back for my size so I'm not holding out.

TSM basically has the same cigar boot coming, though I only gave my name and number and don't know much about my chances. This is quite a game...

Soles I've owned:

Single leather (oak)

Flex sole (single waterlock)

Double waterlock

Commando

Neocork

If I had to rank them, I'd go:

1. Commando

2. Neocork

3. double waterlock

4. single oak

5. flex (too thin, hurts, not enough support)

Negative Ghostrider!

edit: It'll never be your first choice...or 5th IMO.

The synthetic sole does not 'patina' in a pretty way like the rest of the boot will. Again, thats MO
