help please!

Hi, Im looking to buy my first pair of Aldens. Im thinking about going with the Alden AF95's - http://www.alden-of-carmel.com/index...p_Boot_217.htm

I want a pair of sharp shoes that are not clunky, such as the alden #8's shown in this thread http://www.styleforum.net/showthread...90#post1119390

However apart from the alden site i cant find any other pictures of the AF95's, and therefore cant tell if the AF95's have a style similar to the #8's.

If neone has any pictures of the AF95's or any information on how they fit, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

the #8 aldens are on the Plaza last, the ones you are looking at are on the Leydon last, both lasts are pretty sleek as far as Aldens go.

Boots that would be more clunky are ones on the Barrie Last or Trubalance last.

Just went through this myself, the shoes you are looking at (af85) are very much like the AF84 but different last, search the forum and you will see a lot of pics. The others look like a Leather Sole shell cordovan wt, you wont find them around, i've been looking. I actually called LS and they are sold out already... bummer, plaza last is really nice on wt but if you want shell wts check theshoemart.com they have a wt in a barrie last which i just ordered and am waiting patiently. Good luck the hunt is always fun for aldens

Thanks, they sure did, but they are the stock laces that typically come with #8 boots. Nothing different about them. These are underrated boots in my opinion. I don't wear them enough.

Hey guys, I have a question on break-in of my ravello longwings. I have a few pair of Alden boots, but these are my first shoes on the double leather soles. I picked them up last week and have since worn them three times, however, I am still having some slight heel slippage. How long before the double leather soles break in where this goes away? I am curious to hear some stories. And would just living with some heel slippage with these shoes be ok? Anyone else have a permanent slight slippage? And if it does not go away, anyone interested in buying them? I would hate to have to let them go, but don't want something that doesn't fit proper. Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance.

If 8.5D, then I'm interested.

Stopped by the SF Alden shop to browse. All the guys in there were super helpful and friendly. On my way out I wanted to pick up some cordovan wax and the guy just gave it to me. Now i know what it feels like when a woman says 'its about the little things.' This unexpected gesture made my day. Alden fo' Life!

Is there any way to determine the meaning of the inside markings inside Alden shoes? Its possible I found some great shoes but would like to know more before I pull the trigger.

They are marked:

6.5 C/E which I know is the size. Then OH - followed by 54039 and 924.

Anyone know someplace I can find out the more on this model or know what these markings mean?

Thanks.

Model 924 is the black calfskin NST blucher on the Barrie last, I believe.
