If I could only purchase one it would be the Ravello LWB. But community wide, people will say Cigar.

I picked up a pair of these recently and am trying to decide whether to keep them, due to the fit. The heel slips a bit when I walk, despite tying tightly and using tongue pads.

I have several pairs of Barrie-lasted shoes in the same size and they fit perfectly, but none in this precise combo of shell+double sole+not a boot. (for ex. i have calf longwings and shell boots, and there is no slippage; it's possible that the longwings slipped a bit early on but I don't recall).

The salesman said that once the double sole breaks in a little I should be fine. I also have heard that shell runs a little bigger than calf (or expands over time?), which would argue that the fit will not get any better.

I"m not sure if what the salesman is saying is right, or if the fit day 1 is essentially the fit you have for life, and perhaps I should return them. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Generally the stiffer the sole the more heel slippage you will get so as the sole breaks in ...theory states you should get less heel slippage as the force against your step is lessened.

Enjoy! If you get really pro you can even lace both booths at once. When I learned this little trick I was blown away, "Ohhhh this is why they call them speed hooks."

For the dynamite combo, make sure you've not been tying your laces wrong your entire life as well:

If you wear tongue pads AND tie tightly and the heel still slips, I think you are likely better off with half a size smaller (or perhaps try a longer/narrower size which will grab your heel better yet still have necessary length).  Double leather certainly does give after a while, lessening heel slippage, but I only continue with a shoe if the initial (day one) slippage is minor.  Major slippage now is minor slippage later, which is a no-go IMO.

I picked up the Snuff Roys as well and they have quickly become one of my go-to pieces of footwear. Alden suede really is fantastic.

Sounds like the shoes don't fit. Double leather sole is less flexible and a little heel slippage is the norm in new shoes with double leather and will end when the double leather breaks in. But you are using tongue pads just to have the shoes stay on your feet. The shoes are too big. You should try 1/2 size smaller. Or, if the length is good, one width more narrow.

I 'm looking to for a new pair of color 8. I have marlow wingtip, brown Smokejumper work boots and a stupid black loafer.

Which model should be good additional to my stuff?
I'm quite tight width fit in 10d crockett and jones wing tip, a little bit wider is preferable. what should be my Alden berrie size?

The bag contains the heirloom cardigan in navy. Great piece.

The trousers are olive herringbone Walts that Epaulet did last year. I'll probably get two more Walts soon

Great great combo. I'm always impressed by the ensembles you put together. Too, some "left handed compliments" are meant with all the best. I'm evolving on saddles... Thanks.

I finally got a chance to check these out in person.  Quality-wise, I don't think they're even worth the $100.  I have the J. Crew Kenton suede bucks and kind of like them (especially at a discount), but the Pacers are a far far cry from Indys.
