I don't wear a new pair of calf shoes without a coat of wax on them anymore.

If you only tried spot cleaning that, then you may not get anywhere. Try treating the whole boot and see if it will even out. Make sure whatever you do to one you do to the other boot.

Thanks! I just ordered a thing of Alden Neutral Shoe Cream and also a bottle of the Leather Defender, so I plan to polish them using the shoe cream then apply the defender. Is that how I should do it?

If the spot doesn't blend in, there isn't much you can do besides add color.

I've had alden refinish really beat up ebay shell shoes in the past. They will replace the heel pad and buff down the leather lining tears, but they will not replace the lining. They will clean up the inside mess, but not make it pristine. that being said, it's totally worth the money and wait, the re-lasting, new soles, and leather resurrection is impressive. I believe your pair is #8. If I ever send #8 to recrafting again, I will ask for them not to re color them too dark. My last #8 pair returned almost black. Your pair seems to be labeled alden but reminds me of the brooks brothers version.

The exposed eyelets led me to believe BB but I didn't think their version had commando soles. I'm kind of hoping they're not because my understanding of BB is that they are TTS. If these aren't Barrie, they will likely be too small.

I definitely appreciate the insight MDV. I hadn't thought about the possibility of them darkening the finish so I will be sure to point that out when I send them in. Actually, the finish on them doesn't look too bad so if the options are to darken or leave as is, I'll likely choose the latter. My main goals is to clean up the insides and welts as well as replace the soles. Again, thanks.

Took my AF53's out for some mushroom (non-magical kind) hunting this morning.  They held up really well despite the puddles and mud.  I'm sure they'll clean up perfectly once they dry completely.

Went across the border this morning to pick up my Cigar LWB from AoC. Car got searched up and down in every crook and crevice on the way back. I guess declaring that I drove to Niagara Falls, NY just to pick up a $750 pair of shoes and then turn around and come home aroused some suspicion..

Anyway here are some pics

PTB from 6-7 years ago. They were light to begin with and in the sun, they don't look much like the others. NST was made in 2009 but just purchased by me last month, and the LWB which, of course, was just made.

Those look beautiful! It's a good thing you declared them. Did you have them delivered to a mailbox service? May I ask how much you had to pay at the border - was it just the HST based on the sale amount on your receipt?

I didn't see anyone mention it but it looks like Leathersoul has a couple of new (or restocked) Alden makeups...

bcxlb1.jpg

CXL plain toe "Pitt" boot
CXL cap toe "Vanguard" boot

Barrie lasted. $575... which seems really high for calf. Is that what Aldens are costing these days?

gsfc1.jpg

Green suede chukka (similar to what Madison and SF have?)

Barrie lasted. $530.
