Good lookin out Tif.  There's is a little darker brown, but I'm going to see if they have this in my size. For some reason, JGILBERT is not one of the retailers that is typically on my radar.  Thanks!!!

Hi everyone, long time lurker first time poster. Lots of shoes to be envious of !

I hope I am posting this in the right section, these are my first purchase into expensive shoes and was inquiring to see if the slight discoloration ( darker area just below laces) is normal and to be expected?  Will the color blend over time?

Thank you

It doesn't look that bad in those photos. A little wear and polish and it will even out, or won't be noticeable to anyone but you.

Welcome to the thread sir! I got to say that I love your name... Many of us started as lurkers for a long time and then finally had to hop on for some reason or another... :-)

Nice indeed, my friend!  Looks like a great all-weather shoe.  I have found my shoe for this same purpose also!

I think others have offered it as well (or a close make-up), but to my knowledge, UM is the primary/most likely source at this time.

Inconsistency in shade/color has been know to happen with Alden shoes, particularly with shell cordovan.  Some return/exchange and others keep either because of scarcity of replacements or because they embrace the uniqueness of shell and its variation.

The color could be evened out after wear and polishing.  However, if the degree of variation bothers you I would exchange. It looks like there are plenty in stock online.

Congrats on your purchase.  This was my first Alden acquisition.  It opened the door to a very expensive habit, be forewarned! :D

Pleasantly surprised last night as my new fall-winter, all-weather shoe arrived a day early.  I'm very glad I waited for these...

Looks great, RTP.

Your pics got me wondering.. maybe I need to sell off my Leydon natural longwings by EP and grab these. Leydon never fit me really well unfortunately.

I just picked these burgundy grain wingtip boots on Barrie up from a fellow member. These are from TSM. I bought them because I thought they were brown. I found little info online and the pics looked brown to me. Now I'm deciding if I should keep them or not because they are damn nice looking. I just have enough burgundy...
