Well said. I hope one is allowed to have a negative opinion about a shoe. Essentially it goes back to the debate why the rare shells are rare, and would someone be buying them if they were available more often like any #8 model. Also doesn't mean someone wouldn't love it absolutely.

Yes, people get way too touchy about their cherished "rare" limited edition fetishized shell shoes.

Not sure what makes you think I'm not relaxed. I simply found you use of adjectives to be contrary to the spirit of this forum. You shouldn't confuse me stating my opinion with being excited by something you post on a forum.

This Ravello boot is my first pre-order with TSM, and they didn't even take a deposit, even for a non-stock size like mine. But the order is definitely confirmed with Alden so they should be done by the end of the year.

Yup, I have done a number of pre-orders predominantly in narrow widths and they will shoot you a few E-mails with invoice and then a shipping notice a few hours later and they just charge it to the CC that you have on file. Typically when the lists are confirmed, they will verify you are still interested, especially if getting a non-standard size.

Just be patient and some day soon you will get the E-mails and it will be a very happy day.

Someone stating their opinion about the shoe in that manner was not something I anticipated when I made the OP.  Quite unfortunate.

You may have been joking around, but you sounded like a dick.
But that's just my opinion.

I thought Alden DC was the one doing a Ravello cap toe boot? The pre-order from TSM is definitely a wingtip boot, unless they have another order for a cap toe as well.

I'm going to get an early start on a new year's resolution...Which is reducing my Alden collection to a manageable number... I've discussed this with some forum members on PM, and it is probably the right thing to do, especially as I add some non-Aldens (Viberg, Edward Green, Marlows, etc) to the rotation.

I am reducing my Alden pairs to 20 by the end of this year with a goal of getting to a maximum of 16 Aldens by the end of 2014. I will continue to buy them, but only on on a one shoe in, one shoe out basis. Excess shoes will be sold, donated, handed down, etc.

My thought is I will have twenty "slots" in my Alden rotation:
Four cordovan work laceups
Four cordovan high boots
Four cordovan casual laceups
Eight seasonal shoes (random mix of styles and leathers, focusing on chukkas/boots, loafers, suede, cxl, etc)

Initially, there will actually be twenty shoes fitting these slots. However, by the end of 2014, four shoes will fill double duty, which should get me to 16 pairs. Which shoes stay and go will be determined by actual wear patterns across the seasons.

As part of this effort I will be putting some shoes up on eBay/marketplace this weekend...

Fwiw, I am still serious about this. I'm gonna make some further cuts this week (above the ones I asked about a few days ago). Some are gonna hurt, but it is what it is.

Too funny. Alden of DC is definitely doing a captoe as I'm on that list as well. I thought they were both captoe's with the difference being one was leather soles and the other commando.  I got on both because of my strong preference for ravello and figured I'd decide which one to keep after I got them.  Quite honestly, if one is captoe and one is wingtip, I may just keep them both.  That would be a nice problem to have, especially if the shade is close to the recently posted TSM NST's.

Is anyone aware of a list going for a Whiskey chukka on Barrie, preferably on double leather sole?  It's one of the remaining holes in my rotation.  Many thanks in advance.

Leffot is doing captoe boot (daytripper) on leather sole.  First I've heard here of the same by TSM - though I'm not that in-the-know.

being a dick is all part of my charm. who wants a forum full of yes men?
In all seriousness, you took something I said about a pair of red shoes and used it to refer to me in the expletive. That's uncool.
