Nice boots. I also wear boots during the summer.
That's a great shade. Maybe Alden's running "classic" ravello again.
Thanks. Green garden did a great job capturing the wet look. They are absolutely gorgeous, especially the red hue under the sun.

In keeping with recent Leathersoul hate: I designed those for a contest, came in "second" (or was it third?) and they made them anyway. They never told me they were making them (winner was the scotch grain wingtip boot with brass eyes and commando, who got his pair for free) - I found out after the boot was released. They did let me know I didn't win, hehe. I was pissed. Oh well. I see them up for sale on ebay and know I had something to do with a true Alden MTO. It is too bad they are out of the Alden game, but I guess really rich people from Honolulu and LA don't roll much with Alden anymore.

No way you designed those during the LS contest!? Thats freaking awesome that your boot got made but at the same time that kind of sucks (that you didnt get the free pair). Still as you said knowing that you designed an Alden boot that tons of people love is all types of amazing!

You sir know how to design a lovely pair of boots! Well done Roguls!

Question gents:

I had to return a pair Alden x Jcrew perforated captoe boots in #8 yesterday because they were too narrow. Perhaps I could have made them work if I tried to break them in but I decided against it. So that makes me an E on Barrie last. I am a little bit nervous since I ordered the Innsbruck Indy boots in D after trying in a pair of regular 403s in D. My 404s in Kudu feel too wide in E unless I wear heavier wool socks.

Is it that abnormal to be an E width in Barrie and a D width in Truebalance?

If an E in Barrie does that indicate that other lasts may be problematic in E? Hampton, Aberdeen, Grant, etc?

In my experience, TruB is a bit roomier than Barrie, so this may not be unreasonable.  The other lasts you mentioned are all narrower than both Barrie and TruB.  But last shape, including heel, instep and length are all critical, so no way to know for sure unless you try them on.

With the JCrew PCT boots, many others (myself included) have gone 1/2 size up from our usual Barrie shoe size.

no this is not odd, my best size in barrie is 9.5E. I can comfortably wear a 9.5D or 10D on the trubalance. Any E width on the trubalance is too wide for me. A captoe shoe or boot will feel more narrow/tight in the toe area compared to almost any other style available, I believe because of the added/extra piece of material on the toe and added stitching on toe.

CXL PTB for me today as we are expecting some rain....

Does anyone have experience with how sizing for the #8 SWB from Alden of Carmel (AF80) would compare to a shell LWB?

I assume that they should be sized the same since both are Barrie, but have read that LWBs tend to run long.

Thanks!

Seeing these PT brown CXL shoes has me thinking about the Leffot preorder. I now realize that I really don't have many PT boots and the 270 welt appeals to me. Got a couple hours to decide.
