Thanks! It's fairly warm down here in Austin (and dress code is very casual), so more than likely shorts and chinos. My first pair of loafers, but I wanted something more casual that would be low maintenance (can get wet) and wouldn't have to worry about wearing out around town.

I'm a huge fan of the ptb.

Thank you all.

When I first got into the Alden collection, I liked LWB more than PTB.

However, after I acquired my first PTB, the ravello one, I found that the PTB suits my style more than the LWB.

Now I feel LWB is a little bit too fancy and the unmistakable creases of shell cordovan shown on PTB is freaking AWESOME.

Exactly DV, suede is a nice break from Shell due to the reduction in workload. I was going to go Color 8 Dovers but the Snuff Plaza WT Boots are sounding mighty nice and easy.

Does anyone know what last the Alden for J. Crew Limited Edition Shell Cordovan Wingtip Boots are made on (model 44695)? They are no longer for sale on the J. Crew website. I just picked up a brand new pair on ebay that the seller had wrongfully identified as being on the Barrie last. My guess is the Grant last, but I am trying to confirm that. Thank you in advance to any Alden experts who can help with this.

It has all the looks of Barrie. Further, JCrew makes most of its models on Barrie.

The shoe on top is the Wingtip boot that is supposed to be a 10 Barrie. The shoe on the bottom is a Cigar LWB IMG_3504.JPG 1678k .JPG file size 10 on the Barrie last. Clearly not the same.

some great info by mdubs in the past few pages. and nice ptbs from hkpm.

lazy sunday post... my current rotation consists of two shoes and two boots. i've had many others along the way that i sold off due either to poor fit or wasn't feeling the style. i've also got two indy's on pre-order (one black calf one brown cxl, both on commando)

L-R
#8 cordovan plain toe boot, 9D plaza last on commando sole, J. Gilbert
#8 cordovan unlined u-tip, 9C modified last, single leather sole, Anitomica
snuff suede roy boot, 8.5D trubalance last, double waterloc sole, Context
snuff suede unlined plain toe blucher, 9C modified last, Anitomica

2+ year old #8 vs. 3 month old #8 in direct sunlight....
I have never put wax paste on the boot, only treated them with renovateur. i wear the boots in all weather conditions minus heavy downpour.

same under indoor lighting...

the snuff roys are about a year old, the ptbs are about 3 months. alden suede is awesome. i've had all three of the main colors at one point or another and i find snuff the most versatile, followed by brown then sand/tan. i sprayed both once with protective spray and the boots have seen one seattle winter so far - i only shied away from wearing them if the forecast called for steady rain.

there was some discussion about the modified last some pages ago. the heel cup goes up pretty high and swoops around. this did cut into my ankle at first, but is unnoticeable after a couple of wears. the modified last is the most comfortable alden last for me for shoes (tried barrie, plaza, leydon, and modified). i really like the toe shape especially in a C width.
