Alden will not recraft a shoe with a leather sole with a commando or crepe sole will they?

No, but BNelson will and skillfully.

Unfortunately you will have to wait, but it will be worth it. I have the short wings on commando from AoC and they remain one of my most comfortable, complimented, and versatile shoes.

Alden won't swap out the sole but Bnelson will. His commando is not as low-profile as the original alden, which to me, takes away from a high-end shell cordovan shoe. I've seen pictures of his work converting to crepe and they look good. He is currently working on converting my cigar longwings to crepe and I should have them in a week or so. I'll be are to post before and after pics so you can judge for yourself.

Uncle, very nice looking "old school" cigar!  They are well-paired with your OTC argyles.

If I size down a half size in the shell Barrie LWB, but it still feels rather roomy at the toe, and I'm looking at a suede Barrie LWB would it be wise to size down another half size? I'm an 11D on the Brannock and have a 10.5D in the 975 (and it feels roomy at the toe, never tight even with thick socks) and I'm looking at a couple of suede LWBs. One is a 10.5 and one is a 10. I'll likely be going commando often in suede and/or with thin socks. What are your thoughts? I appreciate any input.

In my experience, you can expect the suede and shell LWBs to fit the same.  If your 975s are too big, you should make that call.  I recommend using loafer socks rather than going sockless.  Good luck my friend and enjoy the coming suede LWBs!

+1. I have the #8, Ravello and Snuff suede LWBs and all fit the same/are the same size.

So kind of you to say, Sir.

I'm happy that was finally able to peel myself away from this thread/site.

What about marlow brown short wing from Ralph lauren(c and j)?

^^^ What about them??

Does anyone here have any strong preferences between the standard color 8 NST on aberdeen (2210) versus J Gilbert's color 8 NST on plaza (shoe, not boot)??  I think some (i.e. @sevenfoldtieguy) have said the plaza is spectacular with boots but just okay with shoes.  Anyone else have an opinion?  Does anyone here own the J Gilbert version?

Thanks in advance...

Wearing my newly-acquired unlined CXL Chukkas with flex welt sole today. Pretty comfortable right out of the box.

As is the Snap last on similar BB models, correct?

Correct - BB uses Snap instead of Hampton on its captoe (perf tip) oxfords, and on its captoe (straight tip) derbies. Alden equates the Snap last with the Hampton last. I own both and they are quite similar.
