Nice! I like how brown CXL goes with blues. It just always gives it that pop.

To cap off the workweek I went with my cigar CT boots.

Hope everyone enjoys a great 4th of July with friends and family!

See Ya,

Steve

My hobby is growing historic Cattleya Orchids. I had quite the renown collection but due to a mishap with the heater over the winter. I lost a good bit of my plants. Was an awful day.

I have numerous friends in Hawaii in this business.

What do you guys think of a orchid greenhouse that sells Alden's!

Anybody size 9 looking for some walnut/whiskey shell boots, there is a pair of Ron Rider's on ebay, starting at $150.

I am not associated with the seller, just saw them and wished they were 10.5's.

Nice.

Something I've always been unsure about . . . does Alden ever do anything in Color 8 CXL?  I see lots of colors labeled "brown" and "dark brown" but especially in that light those look kind of Color 8-y to me.

Rancourt has Color 8 and I know Alden does the dyeing, so such an animal does exist.

Brown CXL is quite red in my experience. I don't believe that Alden dyes their own CXL, though.

Yes they do. I believe they just call it burgundy. I had these for a while.

Rancourt uses Horween-dyed Color 8 CXL but evidently Alden chooses not to do so.  Perhaps it's to limit the "king mystique" to shell?  At any rate, if Alden had a dover in "true" Color 8 I would jump on it.

In the meantime, I've ordered a pair of Walk-Over "burgundy" CXL PTBs on the very cheap from J. Crew to check them out.  I don't have high expectations but I'm curious to see how they compare.

This is the closest match i could find locally. It's waxed cow shoulder. Super stiff with a great feel/hand.

It's fully saddle stitched, by hand, 9 stitches per inch (no machine stitching, no rivets). If i were to do it again i would change a few things.

I thought I would share.

Sorry for the poor lighting.

If you came up with this specimen by merely messing around, I can only imagine what you would create if you got serious about it. biggrin.gif

Well done!! thumbs-up.gif
