Elephant makes great cowboy boots.  I think the hide is thick enough to make it more difficult for shoes, but I've seen it done.  Of course we are discussing legally harvested elephant hide which is still available.

See Ya,

Steve

Patriotic.

Looks great.

Maybe too patriotic? They're AEs but made in the USA.

I was wondering if anyone could help me out with some sizing. I have a 7.5D Barrie last PTB that fits well (normally 8D in AE). I was looking at an Alden x BB LHS unlined penny loafers size 7C and was wondering if that would be too small. I believe they are Van last.

I'd be very wary. A number of people have sent in shoes with lovely patinas only to have them re-dyed. Whenever I consider sending a pair back to Alden, I remember what they did to this pair of whiskey shortwings...

Van last is going to fit tighter than the Barrie last. I went with the same size in my LHS and they worked out good for me.

I didn't see this mentioned, but is the JGilbert run of cigar shell Indy boots on the Barrie or Trubalance last?

I think Trubalance but I'm not confident. I have been on that list for a few years so I for think much about it

I'm on the list too. Probably 10 people behind Ryden. I imagine it is Trubalance.
