Would you all agree that this looks like the same makeup?

Looks the same to me

Can somebody speak more about this model? What's that stamp on the bottom of the heels?

It's just the Foot Balance heel more common on the ortho lasts. Some of them seem to really curve and extend under the arch for additional support.

can anyone speak on this model FD-55509?

seems like a Moulded shoe offering, as it's modified last, but nothing on their website matches up..

TIA!

I bought my first shell cordovan boot from Unionmade. They are wingtip boots on the barrie last with a comando sole. I'm very happy with everything but the insoles. The boots look great and the leather is everything I expected and more, but the "genuine leather" insoles seem more like cardboard than the leather I am used to seeing in other goodyear welted shoes. It even looks like it's peeling and cracking on the left foot.

No worries...that's the cork foot bed. They'll mold nicely to your foot

Alden insoles can sometimes be a little stiff. But they look pretty standard based on the posted pictures. You should be ecstatic if the upper is pristine and uniformly colored.

Congrats. I was eyeing a pair myself. I wouldn't worry about the cork bed. Now, just hop onto Shoe Lace Express and grab a pair of green and blue flat waxed laces for some color.

I think the upper is perfect. The color is very uniform and there were no visible marks. There is some dye stain on the inside, which does not bother me, but I had to press one of the eyelets as it had a sharp loose edge on the inside.

I was under the impression that the cork inset was located under the leather insole. Is it different for Alden?

Although it says "genuine leather insoles", the material is more similar to my Chippewa's fiberboard insole than Allen Edmonds/Redwing's/Sanders leather insole. They are very confortable though. I've worn them once and can't wait to find out what they'll look like after a couple of years.

What you've shown in your photos is a leather insole. The cork is beneath it.
