Just to throw a wrench in here and make your choice more difficult, I had CXL Indys on the Trubalance in a C width and Barrie cordovan boots in the same size, but a D width, and they fit the same for me. The CXL Indy's almost felt a little bigger, if anything. But also keep in mind that CXL does stretch a little more than shell.
I measure half a width larger in Trubalance vs. Indy. I also seem to fit Barrie boots differently than Barrie shoes, if we're talking shell. For Barrie naval boots, I prefer 8E. For Barrie shell LWB, I can comfortably wear 8D. For Trubalance Indy in calf, I can do 7.5E.
Just goes to show there are more variables than just last geometry. The shoe style and leather also matter.
