The CXL Indy's almost felt a little bigger, if anything. But also keep in mind that CXL does stretch a little more than shell.

I measure half a width larger in Trubalance vs. Indy. I also seem to fit Barrie boots differently than Barrie shoes, if we're talking shell. For Barrie naval boots, I prefer 8E. For Barrie shell LWB, I can comfortably wear 8D. For Trubalance Indy in calf, I can do 7.5E.

Just goes to show there are more variables than just last geometry. The shoe style and leather also matter.

Try a different email server. I never receive a thing from TSM using my Comcast addy, whereas gmail works great.

Sweet boot Uncle!  They don't look like barrie or plaza.  Could they be aberdeen??  Never heard of that combination before.

Yeah buddy! I got the e-mail notification from Alden SF of their arrival in the store just over a week ago. They hit my doorstep this morning. I had been patiently waiting on this pair for over a year.

When and where did you pick up your Ravellos?

I tried on a pair in Paris......They were pushing $1k there with the exchange so I passed.........I was quite happy to get these today for $325. They are extremely comfortable.........FWIW I am a TTS 10.5C and thats what fit me best in the Modified last................

Any idea on which retailer made these? TSM listed them as cigar shell

Mdubs,

Going 2 weeks without Aldens by choice? You are a stronger man than I. I can only imagine the amount of hours needed to maintain your great collection...

Keep that brush moving!

If I remember correctly the Aberdeen is narrower than the Leydon, which I have to wear in 13E. I was thinking of getting an Aberdeen boot in 13E - guess I'll have to go and try one on to make sure. This sizing stuff is all very confusing.

I agree sizing can be tricky...regardless of brand.  I wear a lot of cowboy boots, and most of them fit pretty snug...but have very soft skin like ostrich hide.  Its like wearing slippers.  Anyway I'm able to vary the fit to some extent and be OK with it.  A great example might be pointed toe boots...IMHO opinion if your widest part of your foot fits at the widest part of the boot or shoe, whatever goes past that point should be fine...at least it is for me.  13D Barrie on a chukka is a little too big b ut not enough to go down to 12.5D.  Its almost impossible to find anything rare is a 13C  A good indicator for me will be how the suede boots I just got on the seconds list fit...those are 13C.

Whats interesting is I wear a solid 14D in AE and Cole Haan, and in Mezlan or Maggani a 15D.  The boots I get on preorders I do a 13E on Grant.

"Last" but not least...I think as sizes go up theres not as much of a difference between a size 13 and 14.  My feet are so big its nice to get into a 13 where they don't look as clunky.  The key indicator for me is across the arch...thats where my foot is most sensitive to size.  If that area is too tight its game over for me.

See Ya,

Steve

Mike.Mike.Mike-You're going on the wagon?  Not at least 1 pair to sniff if needed?  You know there's nothing like the smell of fresh cordovan leather in the morning!:fence:

Here is a pic of the flaw:

I believed it to be a cut through the shell (probably accidentally done with the clicking knife) and didn't want to pay full retain for them.

For sizing, I am a 10.5C (TTS) and 10.5B Barrie. I have never tried on a 10C Barrie to be honest. I don't like giving sizing advice on the LHS due to the low vamp. It's a 3D problem on this shoe.

As DV stated, I think the #4 is actually Cigar. Based upon the model number and picture.

Mike, thanks for the info. Much appreciated as always. I PM'ed you with a proposition.

Tobacco vs Alpine grain LWBs. Similar... But worth keeping both :-)

I own these and wear them often. They are super comfortable and have aged well. I think you'll be very happy with them.

I pulled the trigger on the same pair. The only thing that I could find was this page on a Japanese site:

Would you all agree that this looks like the same makeup?
