My Barrie Indy boots absolutely have a lower instep than my service boots. I have a high instep and wide feet (8E). A 7.5E Barrie should fit me, though I haven't tried, but the 8D is nearly spot on; I generally prefer the shoe to be as short as possible and then I focus on the width.

I can't quite rememeber the out of box fit - but the leather laces did make some difference for me, esp. in the way they scrunch up and compress the tongue against the foot. I've only worn the Barrie Indys on carpet down my hallway on a few occasions, but I have to tie them up even tighter than you have them (only about half inch of width) and they feel loose on top, but lack a bit of width in the forefoot. I'm an 8c on the 975 fwiw and they feel fantastic, if slightly loose w/ dress socks. OTOH, the Vibergs are equally snug from the tops of my toes all the way to the top of the my ankle. It's an oddly slipper-like sensation for me.

What really helps with the service boots is to use leather laces—which seem much longer than the waxed laces—and wrap them once around the top of the boot (so it tightens around your lower shin. This gives me a perfect it.

Really nice! I don't think they still have that, but I'd be torn between that pair and the two-tone Alt Wien I just posted. I think Unionmade has an underrated Alden selection. Some cool makeups, it's just that they don't focus on sleekness.

Would you mind posting a few more pics(top down, side profile), especially wearing them outdoors?

Hey sacafotos, I don't have any pics with me wearing them unfortunately. I love them, they are very versatile, the color is incredible, and Unionmade still has a ton of sizes in stock. Here are some different angles:

Next to the indy, lol:

Another very under rated make-up.  Well done Uncle!

Now that I lightened my AE burgundy Leeds I am feeling like a dark plain toe is needed again in my wardrobe. I really love the dover pattern vs the traditional PTB for Alden, which stores have a #8 Dover though? I need to decide on a makeup and start keeping my eyes peeled.

am i missing any?:

Unionmade (Barrie, lined?, light antique edge, exposed eyelets, commando sole) (really liking this one)

Leffot (Barrie, unlined, light antique edge, flex sole)

Anyone know of a source besides Unionmade for a lined black grained Dover on Barrie last with antique edge? I need a 7.5 and they're out. Thanks.
