I was on the list for "any Whiskey" @ Madison since Jan 2013 and got a call. Unfortunately for me I passed because I already own the NST and I have a Whiskey Boot (Chukka).. told them to keep me on it for a LWB or SWB.

Very close is right. That is fascinating. That explains why barrie 7.5d fits me almost exactly as well as 7E. Thanks for that chart.

If you want to wear a snuff LWB with shorts and no socks, go right ahead.  You don't need permission or approval from strangers on the internet.

I'm thinking the Unionmade PTB may be it, but I'm unsure of the antique edge with color 8.  Long story-short, your tankers may sway me.

I just dropped my PTB's from Unionmade off at UPS. I liked them, didn't love them. It's strange because my 3 favorite features in Alden's are color 8, antique edge, and commando sole. The problem was that all 3 of them together made a sleek shoe (as sleek as you can get with Barrie) look a little chunky. This works well on a boot such as the Leffot tanker, but not quite as well on a shoe that I was hoping would go between dress and casual. I have the SW in 8 from AoC (and I think you do as well) and you can barely tell that these are commando but the commando on antique really jumps out at you. I had a hunch from the pictures on their website but I knew my size would sell out quickly so I decided to shoot first and ask questions later.

Make no mistake, it's a really nice shoe and will get quite a lot of attention, but for me the combination makes it strictly a casual shoe and that's not what I want in a color 8 PTB.

DISCLAIMER: That said, most people who do wear snuff LWBs with shorts and no socks started doing so only after receiving permission/approval from strangers on the internet.

Thanks.  I enjoy my Alden's very much and I would wear them exclusively, but as you guys all know, their availability hinders that.

So, I get them when I can.

I am on the list for several of the special shell makeups at this time.  The problem is that I wear balmorals more than bluchers and they seem to be the rarest of the rare.

Thanks for the feedback, Shawnc.  I think I am with you.  Your points all make a lot of sense.

Well, I mean, when you put it like that, it just sounds so wrong or something.

I had the exact same observation when I tried these on at Unionmade. Couldn't understand how the shoe looked so clunky.

Maybe if it was 270 welt and blind eyelet, double waterlock sole...

I will say the Unionmade Alder shoe is gorgeous. That's the two tone medallion cap toe. May go back and get it.

Harrison limited, cigar x2  (I know, where did they come from?)

alden ny, trifecta x2

i can now stop complaining about coming too late into the alden game. this has to be the renaissance age of exotics. hopefully colors and craftsmanship don't disappoint.

if only that whiskey Aberdeen nst blucher was a boot.... i would have gone full Black Friday on them over the phone. im sure tifosi would have as well. hell, tifosi would have been there tomorrow am ready to brawl.

Which Ravello model from TSM?

hum, the owner of Skoaktiebolaget just posted on their thread that Horween is experiencing very very low stock on cordovan. But aren't we just all ordered some shoes in rare shell recently? What's the deal? Is it because Alden has better relationship with Horween (I wouldn't doubt that)?
