i'll be in the need of a new rubber heel on a pair of roy boots soon, i was going to have a local cobbler replace with something. however, i've read/heard that sometimes alden won't do restoration (i'd like to have them do the re-sole when it is time for that) if there has been previous work done to the shoe. although I am assuming this wouldn't apply to something minor like a heel replacement. can anyone speak to this?
My J Crew snuff/#8 saddle is one of my favorite pair of Alden's; I plan to wear them this week. The all #8 saddle is likely my next Alden purchase. I would love to see it done on an antique edge but I doubt that will happen considering I have been asking Leffot for close to two years to run a #8 LHS with antique edge trim.
I thought I'd crowdsource what I should do with my ranger mocs on crepe. I picked them up from Need Supply at the beginning of the year for less than $300 and use it as a beater shoe. I was never a fan of the crepe sole but the plan going in was to resole via B.Nelson at some point anyway.
Since I feel the crepe sole makes the shoe heavier, I want to replace with a sole that will make the shoe lighter but can still be worn in all conditions for California (e.g. rain, sockless during summer, etc).
