Well, I'll chime in. I've worn Alden since 2004 when I came across the store on Madison Avenue in NYC. I then stumbled across the TeamSports guy many years back who had his entire Alden line up for fire sale prices as he had just closed up his shop. After picking up four pairs in shell from him, I added one a year till 2012 when I left behind the suit and tie. Now I keep a few pairs but have since started looking elsewhere for more casual offerings. I believe Alden makes a quality shoe, but they're selection is somewhat limited to dress attire.

Just my two cents.

@Shawnc

Can you please post fit pics when you get them? Thanks.

(I swear I posted that earlier, but don't see it)

I wore them in store, but the lighting made them look odd and I didn't have access to a mirror that would give me a good perspective. They seemed blobbier than they really are, but I still think about going back and picking up a pair. Just not sure what I'd wear them with. If they had blind eyelets and a 270 welt, they'd look sleeker.

I'm on the Leffot preorder for the #8 Naval boots with antique edge; should be close enough to these Jasper Dovers.

I will definitely post when I get them. I saw your post and perspective on them but my thought was that could apply to any shoe on Barrie so I wasn't to worried about it. For me, they will likely shift between casual and business casual so even if they are 'blobby' I'll be ok. Based on the images from the Unionmade site, I am as excited about these shoes as I have been about any of my Alden's. For me, they fill a perfect void and make me less conflicted about selling my jcrew color 8's on crepe.

Gents,

I sported my 4060s from Alden DC today. Unfortunately after work I got caught outside in a massive downpour for about 3 minutes. I treated them with Leather Defender about 7 or 8 wears ago, and they came through the flood with flying colors. No water spots at all. Pretty amazing.

Even better than no shell damage -- when I got home my wife dropped a green box in my hands. Turns out she scooped up the last pair of Eupalet CXL Brixtons for me! This is the second time she's secretly purchased a pair of Aldens for me, perfect sizing both times. I hope this becomes a regular habit and/or hobby for her!

Hope everyone has a great evening.

Do they still have your size in store?

Snapped a few quick boot pictures in the sunlight while brushing them out for probably the final time of the season.

#8 Naval Boot - really liking the way the color fading is showing variations in the hide.  These particular boots are strictly casual for me, so I don't mind the variations showing through.

Cigar CT Boot - still can't get enough of cigar shell.  I really love the color, especially for my wardrobe and style.

I've been wanting an mto like these dovers for a long time and now that I have them in hand, like you, I stand in doubt. What you said about the blobbiness, I wonder if that may not so much be the case, but rather the combination of light edging and commando heel stack makes for an overly chunky appearance. This, in my mind, limit these dovers to very specific outfits. Like you, just really not sure what to wear with them, for the moment I can only see heavier wales corduroys in the fall/early winter and I'm drawing blanks beyond that.

Not sure if this is a news, but I emailed Alden SF earlier today asking about the Cigar LWB and they told me they "MIGHT" have some come in at the end of the year, but they don't have any definite timeline. I asked about their previous Cigar LWB edging and was told that it was dark brown. So anyone who pass on Adam's might want to give Alden SF a call.

Ha ha. I remember that guy.
Site was shady as all hell but I got the pair I ordered eventually.
No way would I order from a site like that today.

Uncle, great shoe (I want to get a pair of those soon!) and great sock/pant/shoe combo! #8 with blue looks so good!

Yes, why do you ask? I wore them and walked around for an agonizing stretch of time; I'm sure the SA hated me, but I couldn't wrap my head around the shoe (color, look, side profile, versatility)...so I walked away with the slipper-like, unlined snuff dover. I'm convinced that Dovers are nicer than the PTBs, but Dovers can't have anything but blind eyelets to me. If they don't, they should be 270 flat welt and single flex sole to compensate (be more sleek).

Nice naval boots! Are those essentially the same as the recent Leffot pre-order? I got in on that and am excited. Any shots of you wearing them with an outfit? They seem super versatile (though casual/semi-casual at best).

Good call on the cords. Look up some MTO trousers from Epaulet. Great colors, I'm sure you'll find something that matches these shoes. Where did you get those laces? Look like a wheat color. I bet a pair of green or blue waxed laces would look cool.

It's a great buy, please don't let my post sway you. I'm almost regretting not picking the up, but I also think my wardrobe is narrower in its scope of occasions that other posters here. I'd be limited with what I could wear with those shoes. Also, I got the Leffot naval boots, which are color 8 PCT with antique edging. Worried about redundancy.

What a woman! Tell her the guys over here are "cin-cin-ing" their glasses in her honor. What are the soles? Flex?

I just got the Gamble Hill Indy from Need Supply. Should be here tomorrow. I wanted a pair that I could just beat the hell out of and not give a damn...and wear with many casual outfits. Preferred the natty CXL Indy to the PTB.

Yeah, these are the exact same boot as the recent pre-order.  I'd need to go back through my pictures to find ones of me actually wearing them.  I normally just wear them with denim, but they can definitely be worn with trousers depending upon the outfit.  I enjoy the faded color #8 with denim - killer combo IMO.
