Good to be back RTP my friend!

Glad you like my shoes. My Cigar NSTs are from Alden SF. Got them in end 2011. Been wearing them about once or twice a week. These have never been polished only brush n wear.

Someone mentioned to me that they think the Alden tassel loafer in calfskin is made on a different last to the shell cordovan version? It's common knowledge that the shell version is on the Aberdeen last, but is there any truth to what I've been told?

No, the calf version of the tassel moc (663) is built on the same last as the shell cordovan version (563), Aberdeen.

There may be other slip-on Aldens built on other lasts like the Copley, van, etc...  but the standard tassels are on Aberdeen.

Great to see your return...

Alden NYC has sold Aberdeen Cigar NSTs in the past. Citishoes had them on Barrie.

Oh yea...haha. I was a bit thrown off, too, but I didn't put 2 and 2 together.

For a while I thought Rishi changed his name to halfnhalf... I couldn't conceive of anyone else being Cary Grant; or rather Rk was in fact Cary Grant! :D

Yes, they are both on the Aberdeen. Now, some folks claim that shell models are slightly larger. So, for something like a loafer where there are no strings to tighten the shoe, it can make a difference. Personally, I wear a 10.5D in the suede tassles and a 10.5C in shell tassels. This is the only shoe that I wear a C width in. I hope this helps.

I'll take a pix of them in the sunlight when I wear them to see if you can still see any burgundy.

They don't have that leather cover on the tip that some of the Alden crepes come with. Also, many of you commented that crepe is as heavy as a double leather sole, but these feel pretty light (lighter than a new dble sole?). Sorry I didn't weigh them beforehand. I asked for a darker crepe and Nick complied. I didn't want that orangy or yellow crepe.

They look great. I think leaving off the leather towards the tip of the shoes is a wise decision. I've had more than one pair of Alden with crepe soles go back to the factory to be re-soled at their expense because that leather piece begins falling apart and the stitching starts to unravel right where the leather meets the crepe.

^^ Looking good, DV. Are those navy trousers? I was going to pair Ravello with Navy today, but I chickened out and went #8.
