A little distraction from all the shell love going on here.  Just received these Alden/Leffot boots, my first on the Plaza and I am smitten by this last, as I knew I would be.  The suede, the last itself and the single flex sole make them supremely comfortable.  I've been rotating between two pairs of new Vibergs, trying to break them in quickly, and I've been thinking that they were pretty comfortable for being work boots, but these suede Aldens (obviously not work boots) are like slippers in comparison.

Did anyone here pull the trigger on those?

I did. I had a hunch they would sell quickly and I have a common size (8.5D Barrie). These shoes perfectly fill a void for me and I loved them as soon as I saw them. Pulled the trigger the same day kwhitelaw posted the PSA.

I remember someone picked up a pair of their cognac shell LWBs a while back. I'm tempted since they have my size but would love to see pictures.

Sure thing. Here goes. Second shot is for comparison purposes and shoes how close they are to AE walnut Dalton's.

Unfortunately I've had these for a few months and as much as I like them, I've only worn them once. Will likely be moving these over the next week or so.

I'm looking to pick up some tassels, and I'm trying to figure out the best size to get.

I wear a 10.5D Barrie last; 10.5E Van last; 11D in RL Marlow wingtips. Would a10.5E or 11D be best for Aberdeen last tassels?

Just got in some Halleck boots from Unionmade... overall they look pretty good, but the alignment of interior panels is not all that symmetrical. Similar on the outer panels to a lesser degree.

I'm fairly OCD and I realize this is Alden QC being what it is... but they have at least another boot in my size. Is this enough to try an exchange or should I just live with it? This is my 4th Alden purchase and the first time encountering something that I think would continue to bother me...

Had I ordered both the ravello and cigars, all 3 of my bluchers would have all been LWBs. I know that as my shoe collection grows, I will kick myself for not purchasing the cigar LWBs, but for now, I need to work on diversifying my shoe wardrobe. Hopefully the opportunity to purchase cigar LWBs presents itself again in a year or so.

Meow, I don't think you made an unwise decision. Cigars will be made again if you are patient.

Brandall,

I do not see enough of a difference there to warrant any concern myself. If the colors are consistent and good, I would keep them and enjoy them. But if you are really unhappy with them, they are $700, so return or exchange them. You should be happy with them.

Intensanity,

You are very lucky, those are beautiful boots. Enjoy them and get some good use out of them.

Those color 8 shell dovers sold out with the quickness. I considered a pair, but I didn't want one in a commando sole. Where can I look for a pair in leather soles?

Alden DC does Color 8 Dovers with Dark Edging. Leffot does Color 8 Dovers with Antique Edging, but you will have 13 seconds to get them when they go on pre-order again...
