With respect to the Van LHS, those who have a low instep (count me among them) have an advantage.

For sure, I have a low instep and narrow heels and the Van LHS fits me like a glove in 7.5D. The same size in Barrie has me close to closing the gap when lacing my CXL PTB and still a little bit of wiggle in the heel.

I have a bit of wiggle in my heel on my 8D Barrie LWB and still have over an inch of lacing gap. I need the D width for my instep, but if not for that I'm sure I could be a C width. Or possibly a 7.5D. I haven't had the guts or extra funds to order up a 7.5D in something to try it out. I guess it doesn't really matter as I don't see myself buying anymore Barrie lasted shoes. If I could find a better fit I would feel comfy selling my Leffot #8 LWB and be able to replace them. Not so much with my whiskey LWB. So I guess I'll just stick with what I have.

No.

These are the standard 4060 CT boot on Grant last.

All eyelets, double leather sole, color 8.

Yeah it's a tricky last. I was able to try on the 990 in a 7.5D and the 975 in 8D locally and though the 8D felt decent in most areas it was just too much heel room. The 7.5D is a bit snug on my baby toe in my CXL PTB but I think most shell shoes would be slightly roomier due to the shell being a bit tougher to last as tight.

I am hoping the 7.5D Leffot tanker fits perfect when it arrives as it is a grail item for me. I have been lusting after it since coming to this thread.

You should be safe. My 8D Tankers fit 100x better than my 8D LWB.

That is good to hear since I have read bit about the Barrie boot last fitting a bit different.

Yea, I guess it all depends on how the Barrie shoe fits. Barrie shoes fit a bit big for me so the snugger Barrie boots are perfect. If you fill out a Barrie shoe, then a boot in the same size may not work.

We'll see I guess, fingers crossed. I wear a medium/heavy weight sock in most of my shoes and boots so I could always drop to a thinner sock if needed. I am sure I will find a way to make it work as long as they don't cause me any pain haha

Yea, I have heavier socks that I wear exclusively with my Barrie LWB.
