Best cigar shade I have seen.  Well done.  Cigar is the one shell shade I resist acquiring.

That's because it doesn't look like that anymore, haha. I wish it did.

Whiskey shell sighting.

Although not Aldens I thought some here may be interested. Ashland Leather Whiskey Shell wallet. It's the Tony the Ant wallet customized a bit by Phil. I wanted the card slots but not the bill slot (I don't usually carry cash). It came out awesome.

I was eyeing the PTB but may jump on the derby MTO in the other thread. Not sure how versatile a shoe it would be, so would love to hear input on folks who've paired their Natty CXL shoes with many outfits.

I know I can beat the hell out of them, though.

I have PTB and INDY. Both very versatile. I'm wearing PTB today with BB Advantage Chino (dark taupe), BB Natural CXL belt, and BB light blue button down dress shirt.

Hi all:

Leydon Last sizing/fit question for purchase of Snuff Suede Flex-Welt Chukkas - I live in LA so stopped by Unionmade to try on the 8.5D and 9D (I am a 9D Brannock).

The 8.5D seemed to fit very well upon first wear but after walking around the store and wearing for more than 5 minutes, noticed pressure/rubbing against the inside of my feet, right above the ball sort of near the instep (hopefully that description is clear...).  The shoe otherwise fits great in the toebox/heel etc.

When I asked about this pressure/slight discomfort, the woman at Unionmade noted that over time this should break in with both wear and also if I use shoe trees (?).

Question - has anyone experienced a break-in period for these shoes as mentinoed by the woman at Unionmade?  Or is that not really the case, and should I look to get the shoe in size 8.5E?

Look to get the shoe in one width up from the ones you tried. Many Alden retailers will recommend a width up. I had a similar situation to you: An almost slipper like fit at first, but after only ten minutes of wear a noticeable tightness across the vamp and on the inside of the foot. I went up to an E, and they are the most comfortable pair of shoes I own.

Hope this helps.

Odessa - thanks so much, that is very helpful to know!  Interesting we had basically the same initial wear experience with this shoe.  I understand also that the Leydon will run a bit narrow.  I think I'll order the 8.5E (the 8.5D is the size that fit me perfectly at first, than after 5-10 minutes started to feel tight).

Thanks again!

If the Alden for J Crew Perf Cap toe boots fit perfectly in 10D (barrie), can I go with the grant-lasted cap toe boot in 10D as well, or will I need to go with the 10.5D in the grant boot? Thanks in advance!
