I'm been hoping that there is some sort of a code for Adens, but that seems very unlikely at this point.

JCrew had a coupon snafu a few months back.

I don't know if it's the right place to ask questions about Alden, but I have just inherited a pair of them, and since they don't fit me, I would like to know whether they are worth some money or not.

As you may have understood, I'm a total newbie, so any help would be appreciated.

They are a dark burgundy-maroon-brown color, and come in size 10 1/2 B/D. They are definitely well worn, but they've been well looked.

I attach some pictures here; does anyone knows the style, and if they are valuable or just a worn pair of shoes worth nothing?

Thanks in advance!

I think that if you listed them for $150, they would take a while to sell.  If you listed them for $50, they would sell pretty quick.  Its not at all a bad model, just not as sought after as others.  Alden restoration could do a lot for them at the cost of $150 or $165 (whatever it is lately), however, I don't think you would get that investment back out of them in a resale, so probably best to sell them as is.

That is my take on it.  Nobody can know for sure.  Only one way to find out.

nephew,
based on my experience the marcoliani are definitely superior in both merino wool and pima cotton. I do not know if pantherella makes cashmere socks but the marcoliani cashmere are very good

I took the brown CXL Indys out for a Memorial Day hike. It involved some precarious suspension bridges, but unlike Temple of Doom, did not involve me being chased by a bunch of pissed off guys with swords.

This is one of the best posts that I have ever seen.

I would guess that as-is you could easily get a couple of hundred for those. At least that's what I would pay if they were my size.

Bottom line is that those are pretty nice. Too bad they are not your size.

A year ago I sold a pair of these in almost identical condition for $150 after finding them at a thrift shop.

Anybody has side by side comparison of Leeds and Alden PTB in burgundy/ color 8? I'm just trying to see how much darker is one compared to the other.

My #8 LWBs are noticeably much darker than my burgundy Leeds ... the eggplant glazing on the #8 makes a huge difference.

Would you go as far and say it's almost a completely different shade?
