If you look at most of the shell make-ups posted here, they are mainly casual to business casual with some that can be dressed up to business attire.  For instance, any of the shell make-ups with light or antique edge/welt would typically be considered casual to business casual.  Unless your officemates don New Balance  and Converse routinely, I doubt Alden shell would be too far out of place.

I've heard that leaving shell in the sun can cause fading. I just picked up a pair of shells with one shoe slightly darker than another. Has anyone tried to remedy this by leaving the darker one in the sun?

Unrelated,I sent a pair of cigar LWB's for recrafting. I think the Alden specialist working on my shoes was named john, but whomever it was, the level of service I received was exceptional. He was patient, helpful, and much more flexible than I ever imagined. He could see that my shoes were in prettily decent shape and offered to fix a couple of small issues without the full blown service. At one point he said he wasn't going to charge me but given that my requests changed a little, I don't know if that will ultimately be the case. Either way, the level of service far exceeded what I expected.

Got a deer bone from Leffot to work on the cap toe on one of my shoes... My wife just looked at me like I was crazy when I was trying to explain it to her...

My dog is also looking at me wondering why I am holding back on her...
