I went to the Brooks Brothers in my town and tried on an 8.5d and a 9d. I assumed they were on the Aberdeen, although the sales reps had no clue (in fact, when I asked about confirming that these shoes were made by Alden by virtue of how skinny the box they came in was, the rep told me they were made by "cordovan"; smh...).

I went first with the 9D, which should have been tts. It's comfy enough, but with a moderate amount of heel slippage while wearing a no-show sock. Toe box was plenty comfy, maybe a bit roomy.

I tried the 8.5D. The toe box is snug, but not oppressive and not necessarily likely to be painful on a pinky toe. Very little heel slippage, which I would imagine will settle down once the cork gives way.

My understanding of Aberdeen sizing is that one almost always goes true to size. I'm curious about whether there are Alden guys out there who ended up going Barrie size for Aberdeen? Particularly for those of you who have widish feet...

Does it make sense for me to try the 8.5E from Alden to make sure there is enough room in the toe box such that my little piggies arent cramped after an 8 hour day? BB reps tell me they don't do E sizes frown.gif

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Buy a 9C. nod[1].gif

With all Alden loafers I go down in width to prevent heel slippage.

Thanks, seven. This was going to be one of my next moves. I just need to help the BB associates understand that this is actually a possibility :)

Is the general consensus to size down on the unlined BB LHS as compared to the Alden lined LHS?

Is there really a fit difference?

Four!

Too bad I don't have it. I think J Gilbert usually does a run of this.

You guys think this makeup is good enough to be worn as a semi-dress boot?

I'm not a stickler on the commando sole being only for casual wear...

I wear my Leffot Tanker for business casual all the time. The Plaza boot can definitely do it.

Here's another vote for that makeup (#8 NST boot on Plaza, commando sole). I'm on the J Gilbert list for the next run, last thing I heard was hopefully later this year.

I have a 9C in each of these models (lined shell and unlined shell). I also have a 9B in a lined LHS. The BB unlined 9C = lined 9B in my experience.

Note: I typically wear the Barrie last in 9D or 9C.

Thank you gentlemen!  For those of you interested in this makeup, word on the street is that Alden DC ended up with the old Blackbird inventory, so I believe they may still have some sizes left.
