Got it and great gift indeed! I would use it in a similar fashion for just dusting for the reason you mentioned, but unless I receive it as a gift, I have other clothing related items to purchase with my money in the meantime. Good to know I'm not missing out on something in terms of its benefits. Appreciate it!

Just so I'm hearing this right... obviously with a Barrie last you're likely going to be sizing down half a size.  So a boot will be roughly .5 under your Brannock measurement.  However, in a chukka or LWB it's closer to a full size because the vamp isn't as tight?

Assuming this is partly addressed to me, for my feet - Barrie is 0.5 down, Truebalance is 0.5 to 1.0 down, Grant and Tremont are TTS.

I do not own any Chukkas, so can't comment.  LWB is NOT a full size down for me - its a Barrie lasted shoe, so I went the usual 0.5 down and it fits great, ymmv of course.

I wear 0.5 down in both a Barrie boot and shoe.  I do have a Barrie CXL PCT boot that I bought TTS to wear specifically in the winter with heavy socks.

Cheers,

BN

I purchased a pair of Barrie-lasted boots (JCrew PCT) true to size because of what others have reported. My Barrie-lasted LWBs are sized down by half.
While the 8.5D PCTs feel slightly bigger than the 8.5D LWBs, the 8D boot would likely have been a little too snug for my liking.

I'm feeling a little down this weekend. I sure could use some #4, or Ravello boots to pick me up. Anybody got any size 13 they are willing to sell me? I've clicked my heels together 3 times and said there's nothing like #4 or Ravello boots. I believe in the Alden boot fairy if that helps.

See Ya,
Steve

Thanks.

I also notice alot of guys here doing LWB's without socks.  Are they using super low-cut socks or really no socks?  Should that be another half size down?

I've had the same problem with 2 pair of boots (and a 3rd is developing). They've both had to go back to the factory.

Interesting, seems to maybe be a pattern with this boot then.  I will contact J Crew.  Was worried about the wait for a new pair if return was required, but I guess with summer finally arriving I can take them out of rotation for a while.  Thanks for the advice, guys.

I can't speak for others - but I would not size my LWB down a half to go sockless - I'm generally wearing thinner dress socks with these types of shoes, so removing them doesn't make a large enough volume shift to require a resize.

For example - LHS thin socks or sockless is the same size for me in Van

From my experience, I can't use the same pair of shoes for both thinner and thicker socks if I want a great fit. That's the reason why boots usually run half a size bigger than normal to account for thicker socks.

There may be benefits to using the lambs wool for polishing that I have not yet realized because of the way I use it. I wouldn't take my comments as a reson not to try it. There are some less expensive versions than the EG branded mitt.
