Exactly. Those cigars only went that high because they were Jumpers from LS. If someone were to list something that comes around in rotation like a color 8 boot used. I highly doubt its getting 1000 dollars plus.

Its just like when everyone goes and buys 4 PS4's thinking they are going to make enough to retire and find themselves returning them to the store because they dont sell on eBay for 10,000 dollars.

Plus in reality if you pay 760 dollars for some boots and they sell for 900 on eBay. By the time you pay eBay and Paypal their fees + shipping and the time and effort, is it really worth the trouble to buy them, wait 3 months, sell, ship, await feedback or returns. All that for a lousy 40 bucks.

For color 8 its just demand, Styleforum does help it greatly but also remember there's AskAndy, Reddit and numerous other online styleboards full of people talking about the same shoe released the 15 of us are.

Just my $1, cause my thoughts are worth more than 2 cents. :)

@Bobbo316

So you carry $1 bills...for laundry, right? :)

Additionally, Leffot has pretty much cornered the market on the antique edge. Which is the more casual color 8.

So if they make 100 pairs a year.....

Actually funny enough I could not tell you the last time I even had cash in my wallet. It mainly just houses credit and debit cards.

Funny, I can't recall the last time my wallet didn't have at LEAST two different currencies in it...

now that I have the #8 LWB antique from leffot on preorder, im at a dilemma as to what to do with my jcrew #8 lwb on crepe that are currently in the marketplace..

do I keep them for a more formal use (albeit with a crepe sole), or get them resoled by B.Nelson with standard dark sole.. My intentions when I got the jcrews were to convert them to the leffots, but now that the leffots will eventually arrive.. im at a crossroad..

keep as crepe

convert to dark leather sole or possibly dainite

continue to trying to sell them..

Personally I say sell. For me, I woudn't be able to justify having almost identical shoes.

That's what I was leaning towards (hence me making the classified ad), but I guess the price is still a little high. I'll let them sit for a bit, then may just get imbulsize and send them off to BNelson

thanks for the feedback!

^ Sell them or else keep them as a bad-weather beater shoe.

Now, I may be able to get a cigar LWB or a Ravello. I just need one for now and my rotation is set. Which is more versatile?

Cigar - by far - in my estimation.

Really?

I don't plan on the 975 but may eventually get a WT color 8 boot on Plaza.

Ravello looks farther away from color 8 than cigar, covering a diff end of the spectrum to my eyes.

What's your logic?

Thanks for your input.

My opinion was given relative to one comparison - cigar LWB v. Ravello LWB - and which one is more versatile. Cigar is. I own both models. Dark brown is more versatile than medium (reddish) brown. Medium (reddish) brown is more versatile than light brown/tan.

If the question is which color (cigar or ravello) is further from color 8, the answer is ravello.

Jason

If you don't mind me asking, which retailer are you on a list with for whiskey PTBs? I asked Alden DC, and they said my name is on a list, but they currently have no plans to re-order at this time. They just said they will let me know if and when they do.

I'm guessing at the rate I wear them, they'll need a resole after another two winters.

Great to see the age on these! I bought these becuase of your initial pics and still dig them.

I want.  A cigar LWB. So bad. I'm pretty good on #8 now, have most of what I want but can't seem to find any cigar.

I would love one, too, but I am good on LWB.

Did you get the Naval Boot????
