Hello everyone, long time lurker here. I'm not sure whether I should be proud or ashamed to admit this, but I have read almost the entire contents of this thread over the last couple of years. I'm joining up now as I am very interested in the Leffot Naval Boot pre-order opportunity, but would like some advice on sizing. Unfortunately for me, I have very wide feet. My size tends to vary depending on who is doing the measuring, but I wear the widest shoes I can get generally. I have a pair of Allen Edmonds in 9.5 5E width which barely fit, to give you an example.
Anyway, I already have three pairs of Aldens: the 907 in 10 EEEE (Hampton) which I have worn for about two years, the 405 Indys in 9.5 EEE (TruBalance) which I rarely wear, and a fairly new pair of 990s in 10 EEE (Barrie). I am leaning toward trying to order the Navals in 10 EEE, as the 990s are also on the Barrie last and tend to fit the best out of the three pairs on an average day, with average thickness dress socks. The 10 length might be a bit long for me, as my toe tends to end about an inch and a quarter from the front of the shoe. But it seems like that is the only way to get the width I need.
Thoughts? Should I go with a 10 EEE, or try to see if a 9.5 EEEE is possible? I had read somewhere that shell boots in wider sizes were not possible, but I hope this is not the case.
P.S. I really enjoy reading this thread. Thanks for keeping things interesting, and with great pictures too!
