Good info - cheers!
Congrats! I'm with you today, brother. I also got an e-mail this afternoon from DC stating that they had a pair of cigar cap toes on hold for me.
I'm a 9D too, paid immediately. I know for a fact that I was #8 on the 9D wait list. Wonder if they received a few extra pairs from the factory? I don't know if that has ever happened before. Just a guess. That, or enough people have passed or sent them back to DC.
Let me know how they look. Mine should be here by the end of the week and I'll post pics over the weekend. Hoping they are in decent shape with no "self-fixing" rips or tears... Have a great evening, gents.
I've been off Aldens recently but started wearing my unstructured snuff suede chukkas more now that it's getting warmer. I've become strangely enamored to the color of the snuff suede, even though I've had these chukkas for awhile. I was browsing and came across the Alden x Leffot snuff suede WT boots. I'd been attracted to them before but had other priorities (and really still do). But the 270-welt and Plaza last pushed me over the edge and I plunked some cash down for the preorder.
I've got this sort of mental block against what I consider huge/wide heels. They don't look very appealing to me. Which is why I've sold off the Trubalance and Barrie boots that had a 360-welt. I'm quite happy with my Barrie (and Modified) last boots with a 270-welt. I wish I didn't have this aversion to the "wide" heel thing because many of the nice shell makeups (Barrie, Grant) are almost all have 360-welts, which rules them out for me. For some reason, the 360-welt boots from C&J don't seem to bother me as much, maybe because the waist of those is still narrower.
Does anyone else feel this way about wide heels? Maybe I need to go into therapy.
Curious if anyone has experience with sizing adjustments needed (mostly on Barrie) when using a thick insole with arch support. I may get another pair of Roy boots, and Context carries them in E and EE sizing. I'm about a 7.5D/E without insole on the Barrie last.
Thanks, Steel, I'm excited about getting these, hopefully soon.
And I'm glad there's someone else with similar views on a 270-welt. But maybe both of us need to go into therapy...it would open up more opportunity for us.
They must be using the British convention for width measurements for some reason. In which case, E is really D, and EE is really E.
It doesn't make sense that they would only carry wide and super wide widths in a last that is already impossibly wide for many consumers.
