Well played bakes.

You guys give me too much credit.  It was a layup!  Perfect setup.

But should I be concerned about this?

These are my third pair of aldens and I swear there an unexpected flaw everytime. I don't think this one is that big but I could see it being annoying if pebbles get stuck in there?
Worth an exchange? Finishing is a little uneven but I think it's acceptable.

Are you referring to the small space between the rubber and leather on the heel? If so, I would not worry about it if I were you. I have that on a few of my pairs, and it hasn't resulted in any discomfort or issues.

Nothing to worry about.  It will compress and fill itself in as you wear it more frequently...

I'm sorry, I had to say it.  I still can't believe Kathy or the folks at Alden DC said that about the cigar cap toe boots!

[Edit: sorry Bakes, for the similar reply.  I had not read your post... great minds think alike!]

Heard a few days ago Jcrew had a discount that applied to Alden's. Anyone know anything about it?

I'm not sure about what happened few days ago but I was able to get my PCT boots for 20% off during one of the promotions a few months back.

I believe it was a unique friends and family discount that some people received in previous orders/an email/on little cards in store.

What a day gentlemen,

I'm up for cigar captoes in my size. Was either #6 or #7 on the list. After all the talk of defects that we had today, I asked for the inspection and awaiting the results happy.gif

Might just pass it down to the next person in line since I have unexpected purchase to make.

Wow. I thought they all would have been allocated by now!

$240 is steep though...

Call the shoemart 203 phone number. They use OEM and i'll bet they are half the cost. I did a crepe conversion for around $120.

What size are you good sir?

I'm also anxious to hear what ATLVol's decision will be regarding the defects on his cigar captoes, since I'm assuming his are 11D or 11.5D...there could be another chance at them as well.

[edit] - much to everyone's chagrin regarding lack of accountability for poor Alden QC

edit: looks like I might be taking these. Most likely will return JCrew PCT boots since I have #8 Leffot NST coming.

I would guess not all of them.

I returned mine (9.5) last week. Couldn't justify another pair of dark brown captoe boots (already own two pairs), and the Grant is not the best fit for me. They were in good condition - a few markings on the edging but not a big deal at all. In reading thru this thread, it appears mine have already been spoken for.
