Don't think the tear is that big of a deal in terms of functionality but you might lose some resale value if you were to sell it on ebay or the marketplace.

Hey guys. Just received my first pair of 975s. They fit perfectly and they are beeeeauuuutifuuuuullll.

But should I be concerned about this?

These are my third pair of aldens and I swear there an unexpected flaw everytime. I don't think this one is that big but I could see it being annoying if pebbles get stuck in there?

Worth an exchange? Finishing is a little uneven but I think it's acceptable.

Are you referring to the small space between the rubber and leather on the heel? If so, I would not worry about it if I were you. I have that on a few of my pairs, and it hasn't resulted in any discomfort or issues.

According to Alden DC, the gap will close by itself as you wear it. :rotflmao:

You got that right, DV. Everything will "fix itself" from now on. It is funny, but maybe too soon for Atl and his Cigar boots.

If you have to break out a microscope to see the issue it's probably within spec.

Thank you tifosi. This shade has more caramel than others. I like the caramel colors.

Sacafotos, the pants are French blue rivets from Epaulet.

VASS makes beautiful shoes.  However, they present their own sets of challenges.
