Hi guys!

Exactly a month into the Alden game and I am extremely lucky to cop my first Alden pair:

Thanks to mdubs (Mike) for the tip.

Yep, call the AE seconds shop and get yourself a Rutledge second for around $350 iirc...

eff it, I'll start...

Jcrew ravello LWB from a year or so ago
#8 lwb antique sole from leffot (just preordered)
snuff ptb from whomever offers (will get on impulse by whichever retailer is offering a decent deal, or second hand through the B&S here)
cigar lwb, antique sole
black calf balm for occasional use, although I might just step outside alden for this due to limited use vs cost

those five and I think I'm truly done.

I have:
Epaulet #8 Brixton boot
Alden NYC Cigar LWB on antique
Leather Soul Tan suede LWB
J. Crew #8 PCT boot
Brown CXL unlined PTB
1493 Snuff suede chukka
1494 Tan suede chukka

My wish list:

Epaulet Ravello Brixton (maybe one day it will happen, wishful thinking...)
Whiskey PTB (I'm on a list with Alden DC for the next time they order this, nothing planned yet)
Cigar Cap Toe boot (getting on the list for DC's next run)
Leather Soul dark brown suede LWB (on the list for this as well, who knows when they will do another run of these)
Maaaaybe if Alden ever made a brown CXL Indy with all eyelets I would get that

If I can get my hands on those I'd be out of the Alden game. I don't like the idea of hoarding dozens of pairs of shoes and only wearing each pair once every few months, so if I completed my wish list that would be 11-12 total pairs...more than enough for me.

I need to start checking out the Trickers thread. Maybe I could MTO a copy of the Thor boot we were trying to get DC to make.

TSM isn't typically my go to retailer for purchases, so I'm not expecting much..  But, change is good.

I just wish Alden would revamp their entire internet presence, from bottom up.

Ideally I'd like it if they offered pre-pay preorders on confirmed makeups, like Alden NYC did with their recent Cigar and Whiskey LWB runs.

I do get their seconds list.

Not sure, I was on their general email list, not just their seconds list, maybe that was what they used to send it out.

Submit button on that TSM email didn't work for me. We'll see...

Aldens to get and be out???
Ravello NST boot
Ravello LWB

Beatle Im with you on the Ravello Brixton. Doubt it will ever happen again.

Additionally for boots that I may actually be able to acquire and am not on a guaranteed list for already.

1. Cigar NST with commando sole

2. Leffot Tanker with antique edge

3. Leather Soul chocolate suede indy or NST boot

So you don't feel leather bals can be worn with denim, that is the main thing holding me back.

I'm eyeing a pair of antique edged LWB for casual and semi dress, then maybe a color 8 medallion blucher for more formal stuff. If I went color 8 SW bal, I think itd be more limiting. At least the medallion I can also wear with more casual stuff. I don't want to pigeon hole myself into the bals for formal only mentality.

I actually like the look of my 974 (#8 SW Bal) with dark denim...as unconventional as it may be. I rotate them with my Marlows for standard business casual at work.

I would actually like to try the BB #8 SW Bal since the plaza last is a little sleeker, but the metal eyelets/brogue/foxing all lend to a little more casual look IMO. Kicking myself as I just got outbid on pair on eBay in decent shape and perfect for Alden restoration. Here's hoping BB gets a restock.

Congrats!  Just out of curiosity, (not to toot my own horn, but) how many of us here would make great sales associates at any of the Alden stores!  :D

A) Normally I'd say that a balmoral is too formal to wear with denim, however, the 974 is pretty big and clunky; the double leather sole and shape of the tremont last makes it look more like a country shoe.  I think it can work with combinations on the dressier side of casual.

B)  I wouldn't hold your breath for an Alden restock on the BB shortwing bal.  It may be a very long while before that happens.  A manager at a local BB who did a nationwide search for my size in both black and burgundy shell, called to tell me that I'm out of luck and that it is unlikely that Alden will restock and that BB is planning to phase-out that make-up.

even better.. could you grasp the <extended> reach that Alden could have in this day and age if they had a dedicated person/team responsible for marketing etc? Clean up the website, trunk shows, similar MTO to what AE does with Allison?, cross marketing with online blogs etc...

Increased exposure would of course make acquisitions more difficult, but could also help with improving QC..

just a rambling thought or two.. someone from Alden, feel free to PM me
