I have been unsuccessful dropping widths in larger sizes. Someone said something interesting the other week about how a larger size puts the widest part of the shoe in a more forward placement. So, not only would a larger size potentially be narrower at the widest part of your foot, but if you are dropping a width, that would be shaving off more width space.

I generally agree with that read, but I think that one can find ways to make a half size length up in the same width work, but I have never successfully been able to go up or down a width.

Hi, I'm Tommy, you can call me stupid. Thanks rhythm,

Unfortunately I can't add the cigar LWBs to the cart, get an "invalid item" message. Will call them.

As it seems that acquiring an Alden color #8 shell belt may be more unlikely than getting a color #4 tanker, can any of you gentlemen offer an opinion on the BB color #8 shell belt vs. the AE? Quality? Closer match to the Alden color #8?

If the BB version is closer to the Alden shade of Color 8, why not buy the belt and make a weekend project out of it? Apply cordovan paste wax and buff the heck out of it.

I'd be worried that I'd get color 8 pigment transfer on my clothes.

Seeing MrDV's Cigar boots reminds me that I'm still kicking myself for not taking up the offer from Epaulet to take a pair of Cigar Brixtons when they were available due to the fact that the Ravello Brixtons still had no release date. I decided to stay on the pre-order because I thought it wouldn't be much longer before they were produced. Cut to a few years later...Ravello Brixton will probably never get made, Cigar Brixton is long gone, and I have neither frown.gif

Niiiiiiiiice.

I actually just received the 11D last week. Unfortunately it's a hair too short and I may have to sell. The cigar is beautiful, though, and I only wish they had an 11.5.

I can't say its stupid.  Your not polishing both sides of the belt.  In addition I've got many belts over the years that have required polish to touch up and I've not run across issues with polish getting on my clothes.  It's all about the process used.  I always use a colored polish to get my belt scuff, scrapes and color issues resolved.  I buff a lot afterwards getting any residual polish off.  I finish up with a few coats of neutral polish to seal in the color.  I've encountered no issues with that process.  You do need to be careful, but its an option that should not be ruled out. In most cases manufacturers use polish to get the finish where it needs to be and follow up with a sealer type coat.

See Ya,

Steve
