Will do when I get home. FWIW, these were shoes that were posted for sale on instagram. My wallet is a lot lighter than I'd like, but the possibility of coming across exotic shell again, was too good to pass up

Nice suede LHS Mike! The store itself...how does it compare to Alden DC?

Did you see any special while you were there?

See Ya,
Steve

Is it possible or practical to get lined suede Aldens stretched by a cobbler? Anyone done it before? Should I expect them to stretch at all on their own?

Wondering if someone can compare the Jcrew #8 cap toe boot to the wolverine 1K in terms of sizing. Everyone says that it fits a little bit more snug. I think I am more of a 12D+/ 12E TTS. I have the 1K in size 12D, and its big overall. I can wear it with two pairs of wools socks, and its nice and comfy then. I would want to wear the Jcrew PCB with a pair of wool socks/boot socks. Should I still size down to 11.5D, or stick with 12D, despite being on the barrie? I know normally the barrie last should size down .5, but I want to wear boot socks, and I hear barrie boots fit snug.

I'm assuming you're talking about Shell 1k?

Steve,

They are definitely very different stores/environments. I didn't see anything there that was super crazy, but I had my wife and dad with me and couldn't go too crazy.

They do have all the seconds out on racks, which is pretty cool to see in the flesh. :-)

Good Evening Gentlemen!

I've been MIA for a few weeks now. New job has me learning new things and I really can't get on styleforum at work.

However, I did find out some good news today:

Brooks Brothers Corporate Sale is on May 21st --> 30% off and this usually includes Alden shell.

This is available online and in store FYI.

Same two sizes I think they had when someone else announced last week. Wish they had more sizes.

Wish Alden used Comipel shell and from the other tannery in Europe. Forget the name.

You can add a 9.5D ravello to the list as mine arrived today and was too brown for me. Definitely not the shade listed on the web. Just dropped off at Fedex for return so they should be there in a few days.

As for the other models you mentioned, i personally put the 2146 in the business only category and the chukka on
Commando in the casual only category. All are good models.

I'm right there with ya seven.  The chukka on commando would be for casual wintery/wet weather.  The black monochromatic saddle is likely my next Alden.  Although, I am quite tempted by the BB snuff suede tassels which are on sale right now for 25% off.
