Wonder if the Alden factory accumulated a massive stockpile of black shell during the more recent quest for rare shell by customers so now they are trumping up a black shell shortage to move unsold product?

That, or maybe the factory spent so much time recently producing huge secret batches of Whiskey Indys, Color 4 CT boots, Cigar Tankers, and Color 2 PTBs about to be released to the surprise of all the Alden gurus and forgot to produce anything in black shell.

Don't know about black shell, but I'm still waiting for the Context #8 Tanker delivery which was due this past February... Still no word from Context... Maybe no news is good news?

I would say around a dozen or so. The most common one I think is the #4 wingtip boot.

Are you happy w the shoe brush in your picture? I like shoe brushes, I'd like to know if this one is worth the extra money.
Awesome.
Very good looking shoe.

Thanks for the kind words. That particular brush was the first one I bought. I bought the big alden one after and prefer the edoya, as the bristles are packed tighter and feel a lot more sturdy.

Any chance we could get some more pics of your v-tips? They look great!

Thoughts on a Barrie lasted black shell Indy with antique edging and no speed hooks?

Wow, look at this:

Instead of swapping my Roy boots for a different size, I may just get them resoled like this and breathe some life into them. Insane work by this guy based in LA.

Not doubting Yenni at all, but wanted to pass along this info. baldy[1].gif

Yenni has been trying to get a black shell NST boot (plaza) confirmed since like Nov or Dec. No luck on that either.

The shell shortage has now expanded to the non exotic colors! censored.gif

Anyone who got into the Alden game over 3 years ago likely had easy access to most, if not all, of the exotics, Color 4 included.  I bought my first pair in 2011 and hopped onto TSM and got cigar, ravello, and whiskey with relative ease.  Stumbled across my Color 4s a little over a year later, and promptly launched a PSA whereby a few of us on here, such as Sazon, snatched up the remaining pairs.

Times have changed.

One day I will meet theBeebs and I will buy him the beer, or 5, that I owe him for this.

Incredible how times have changed. I kopped two of my three exotics right out of the gate probably about 2 to 3 years ago. Things really tightened up and this week I received my third pair. Quite a drought. I have really come to appreciate color 8 recently. Extremely diverse.

I know mac works in financials but seems like he has been silent for a while now.

Welp. The golden days are gone.

^ Drop me a line if ever you're in sunny SoCal and we'll make it happen - and I think that's "4" beers!
