Funny enough I recently decided to get rid of all my denim (save one pair of APC's) and move towards chinos/trousers/cords. I never really wore jeans that often and when I did I would find myself wishing I was wearing something else.

I wear shell belts - black, no.8, cigar, whiskey. Don't have ravello cordovan belt, but a tannish calf that I have is very close. I have the three piece belts and they are hardy as well as being nice looking.

For what it is worth, for decades I wore calfskin belts of the colors of the shoes. I thought they looked fine, they were less expensive and certainly ore plentiful. The cordovan belts are akin to icing on the cake.

I have plenty of pairs of denim that have been worn 5-6 days a week for over a year. While I probably could do that to a pair of shoes, I never would. That being said the life cycle of my $300 jeans is far less than my $700 shoes. However all of the same principles of how I value a shoe: quality of materials, craftsmanship, durability all apply equally to denim

This.

Calf and shell belts belts for me. I am not much of a fan of multi piece belts, which most shell belts are, but many on here like them just fine.

Still curious how a Plaza last NST looks on someone.

Have a look through the Alden thread galleries of Don L and Sazon.

Does anyone have any insight into comparing D and E with Barrie-lasted shoes in the same size? Specifically shell shoes. I'm planning an order, but am torn between the D and E widths. The widest part of my foot usually requires a wide with, but my heel isn't so wide. When in doubt, would you guys stick with the wider width?

Best bet is to order both and return or try them on first. I'm a EE with AE and Ferragamo but D with Barrie/Alden FYI

A little break for the Ravello after a long day of air planes.

Thanks for all the comments on my boys today. I really like these guys. Sorry about my jeans, they haven't been the focus of my purchasing lately as I tend to wear suits a lot more, denim will be soon enough.

That's the point with denim - all most people need is one or two good pairs. I always have a pair of APCs i wear, and then I have something else (3sixteen, RRL, etc) in the rotation. Given I wear denim only 2-3 times a week, may as well invest in a good pair.

As the weather is warming up, though, denim will be worn less. I am looking for a new pair of nantucket red chinos for the upcoming season.

There's just something about these that makes them striking.
